Details about Autumn Crittendon’s death
16 and Pregnant alum Autumn Crittendon’s cause of death is out. The former reality star lost her life due to “toxicity from fentanyl and para-fluoro fentanyl.”
The Virginia Department of Health confirmed to TMZ on Monday that the “combination of drugs” took the late 27-year-old’s life. Her manner of death was “accidental,” they said.
Crittendon, whose legal last name was Oxley, passed away on July 20 after paramedics found her “unresponsive” at her residence.
According to the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center, para-fluoro fentanyl is a “synthetic opioid analgesic”. The drug was initially “synthesized for research purposes” in the ’60s.
At the time of Crittendon’s death this past summer, a rep from the Henrico County Police Department in Virginia told Page Six that paramedics did their best to save Autumn’s life.
Despite their best efforts, first responders could not save her and the MTV alum was “pronounced dead at the scene.”
At the time, they said that the police department was “classifying this incident as a death investigation” and that “detectives are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on this case to determine the exact cause and manner of death.”
Her stepfather reportedly found Crittendon at their home where she lived with him, her mother, and her children, per TMZ’s July 22 report.
The former reality TV personality welcomed her son Drake, 10, with Dustin Franklin in December 2013 and then had another boy and a girl, who are almost 5 and almost 2, respectively.

Who broke Autumn’s death news?
At the time of her death, sources told TMZ that the Season 5 alum had been sick. She also had been suffering from heartburn. Sadly, she also had diabetes and kidney problems.
Autumn’s sister Misty Crittendon announced her death in a since-deleted Facebook post on July 21.
The grieving sister’s long tribute read, “You were robbed of your life at such a tender age, you left before anyone could tell you goodbye.. how much we love you.. how amazing you are and how proud we are of you for staying sober through some of the toughest parts of your life, how far you’ve came from where you were, how thankful we are to have had all these years with you, how proud of you we are as a mother, how grateful we are for the 3 tiny parts of your heart that are still walking this earth,”
She continued, “Half of me died with you yesterday and I honestly don’t know how I’m ever going to truly recover from this.”
“Pulling up seeing all the vehicles, an empty ambulance.. and jumping out of the truck as soon as I could begging the paramedics and cops to tell me you were okay and they were just working to keep you alive in there.. But my worst fear was confirmed and I collapsed in the road.”
