The complete details here! Adam Harvey arrested for poisoning his neighbor’s silver maple tree which was 60-years-old!
Celebrity chef Adam Harvey allegedly tried to poison the silver maple tree of a neighbor since it was blocking his solar panels which he had installed on his $ 1.5 million row house situated in Seeley Street, Windsor Terrace. He was a former contestant on the TV show Top Chef: Boston.
The incident-30 of April 2018
It has been reported in the criminal records that on 30 April 2018, Adam Harvey, 33 who is a New York native had been spotted entering quietly the neighbor’s enclosed backyard.
Windsor Terrace neighbors who witnessed the incident said that he was wearing a mask and gloves. He also had in his hands a cup containing some unidentified and unspecified liquid probably a herbicide.
He then employed a hand drill to drill some holes into the silver maple tree, the complaint states. It has also been reported that the neighbor had seen some wet substance on the tree and its leaves.
The neighbor told Daily News that after the incident more than 60% of the leaves of the tree which was 60 years old have wilted. The neighbor whose name has not been disclosed but who is said to be a retired city teacher told Daily News:
“Why would you have solar panels and try to take down a tree? That, to me, is the linchpin of everything. It says a lot.”
The teacher had purchased the house in 1992 and was sure that the tree was alive when Adam Harvey had told her that it was dead and should be cut.
The arrest of Adam Harvey
Adam Harvey who also owns the Gowanus eatery Bar Salumi was arrested in May and released later on bail. The charges levied against him were misdemeanors and included charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass. He is due to appear in court again on Friday, it has been confirmed by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office.
There were some sarcastic remarks posted on the Facebook page of Bar Salumi which have now been deleted.
It has come to the notice that before the incident, Adam was heard complaining to the other neighbors about the tree and its problem. He had even hired a team of arborists to remove some limbs of the tree.
Adam Harvey on Top Chef season 12
Adam Harvey was one of the contestants on the show Top Chef Boston which was season 12 of the American reality TV series Top Chef. It premiered on Bravo TV on 15 October 2014.
Filming for the show was done in locations around Boston, MA. Adam Harvey, 29 at that time had competed on the show along with 15 other contestants.
Adam Harvey had won the elimination challenge posed to him in week 2 but had never won the Quickfire Challenge time. He was safe until week 7 when he had scored the high scores in the Elimination Challenge.
But he was out in week 8 and was eliminated. He could not win the Elimination Challenge. Mei Lin was the winner of season 12 of the show.
Adam used to attend several other competitions and shows and was also seen at the Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival.
He also is the owner of Bar Salumi in Gowanus. The restaurant claims that it uses only ingredients from farmer’s markets and also boasts of a farm-to-party ethos.
Adam and Harvey are still renovating the house they purchased last summer and have not moved in yet. They have already enraged the neighbors. One of the neighbors said:
“He has outraged everyone in a half-mile radius.”
Another said:
“It’s really hard for me to follow what he’s thinking, It’s arrogance and a wrong sense of entitlement to come here and destroy his neighbor’s property.”
