Alex de Minaur reveals how his girlfriend Katie Boulter had rejected his date invite the first time!
Australian tennis player, Alex de Minaur is indeed a highly determined and persistent person, both on the tennis court as well as off the court. Alex is winning titles in his play. And his persistence helped him to win over the girl he loved. He managed to change her heart from a No to a Yes.
Alex de Minaur had his first proposal rejection
Alex de Minaur, the Australian tennis player has a great will and determination. He is persistent in his efforts. He has proven this both on the tennis court as well as off it. He had a great start this season when he defeated the world No. 1 Serbian player, Novak Djokovic. Moreover, he managed to successfully retain his title in Acapulco and has shifted up in ranking from world number 10 to 9 in tennis.
Similarly, Alex was also persistent in his love. He adored and loved WTA star Katie Boulter. He wanted her to be his girlfriend and be in his life for a lifetime. But, she rejected his date invite the first time. Despite that, Alex did not lose heart and kept trying. It was his persistence that made her change her mind and she came from a No to Maybe. Alex revealed this to Tennis Channel’s Nick Monroe when he had a fireside chat at Taste of Tennis Miami with him.
What Alex disclosed about his personal life?
The famous Australian tennis player disclosed that Katie did not accept his date invite. She was initially not found of him but gradually love kindled within her for Alex and they became a couple. Alex narrated:
“Well, I guess everyone’s going to know this now… The first time I asked her out, she straight up said no,”
He continued:
“I asked her out for a coffee date, and she replied with no…”
“That was tough to take, but being the persistent person that I am, I asked again and she said maybe. So we went with that, and here we are.”
The two were at the Taste of Tennis evening and enjoyed the great music together. There was great food too and party vibes all over. The two started dating in 2020.
The ups and downs of life together
The couple has been together since 2020. One year later on their first anniversary, Katie had posted wishes on her Instagram. Alex said that since they began their relationship, he has more things to look forward to besides tennis and the travels. Alex gushed:
“She’s kind of given me a different perspective on how to take results,”
“I used to live and die by the results, but now I’ve learned to enjoy the process and everything that comes with it. Thanks to her I’ve learned to deal with these losses a little bit better.”
“Plus, I don’t want to be cranky when we’re back in the room. I’ve got to sort myself out and snap out of it. She’s been a big help with that.”
The event was held at JW Marriott Miami rooftop deck. There were faces from ATP and WTA such as Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Kostyuk, Donna Vekic, Alycia Parks and the like.
