Her father, Ronald Jack Redman was born in Camberwell, and her mother, Joan Beryl Redman was born in India. Redman’s father passed away at the age of 51 when she was 23 years old. She has one brother, Tim Redman, who died in 2008.

At the age of 18 months, Redman had an accident that badly scarred her left arm. She was scalded with a pan of boiling soup and suffered burns to her body which permanently scarred her left arm.

Thankfully, other parts of her body were not permanently affected. The trauma was so serious she was pronounced clinically dead at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex.

Currently, Amanda Redman is married to Damian Schnabel. The couple got married in 2011. Previously, she was married to Robert Glenister in 1984 but the couple parted ways in 1992. The couple has one daughter, Emily Glenister.
