Amber Heard is soon-to-be mom to two
Amber Heard is expanding her family as she announced on December 5 that she is expecting her second child.
The 38-year-old actress, known for her role in Aquaman, is already a mother to her 3-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige, whom she welcomed via surrogate on April 8, 2021.
However, it remains unclear whether Heard is pregnant herself or using a surrogate for her second child
A spokesperson for Heard confirmed about her pregnancy,
“It is still quite early in the pregnancy, so you will appreciate that we do not want to go into much detail at this stage. Suffice to say that Amber is delighted both for herself and Oonagh Paige.”
Previously, she has expressed her desire to become a mother on her own terms, emphasizing the need to normalize single motherhood.
In a reflective Instagram post after the birth of Oonagh, she noted the revolutionary nature of women pursuing motherhood independently from traditional relationships.
When she announced Oonagh’s arrival three months post-birth, Heard shared that she had decided four years earlier to have a child and “wanted to do it on her own terms.”
The “Stand” star shared a photo of herself holding the infant in her arms and captioned the post,
“I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way, I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”
Amber further expressed her wish to maintain her private life away from public attention. She added,
“A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this. … She’s the beginning of the rest of my life.”
Furthermore, Heard has occasionally shared updates about her daughter, Oonagh, and her experiences as a mother.
She describes herself as “just the mom and the dad” and refers to herself as a “multitasking mama” while managing her parenting duties.
In September, Amber was spotted in Madrid enjoying a rare outing with Oonagh.
The mother-daughter duo were seen holding hands while walking through the city before meeting another woman and a young child.
Amber Heard focuses on motherhood and personal growth post-trial
Amber Heard is now living a peaceful life with her daughter, Oonagh, in Madrid, Spain, following the highly publicized legal battles with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The mother-and-daughter duo left the United States three months after Heard lost a defamation trial against Depp.
In February 2019, The “Pirates of the Caribbean,” actor filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard.
He claimed that she had defamed him in a 2018 op-ed published in the Washington Post, where she discussed her experiences with abuse without naming him.
The jury ultimately ruled in favor of Depp, awarding him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
However, the punitive damages were later reduced to $350,000 due to Virginia law.
In a June 2022 interview with NBC News, Heard shared that she will now concentrate on her family, becoming a full-time mom without the stress of legal obligations.
She stated,
“I get to be a mom, like, full time, you know? Where I’m not having to juggle calls with lawyers.”
Meanwhile, Director Conor Allyn, who collaborated with Heard on the thriller In the Fire, noted in an interview with PEOPLE that she is “living her best life in Spain with her daughter” and finding happiness there.
Similarly, he also praised her as “such a dedicated mom.”
Furthermore, a source revealed that Heard’s decision to relocate was influenced by the overwhelming stress from the trial. One source explained,
“The trial was extremely stressful, and she wanted a fresh start.”
They noted that she now has a renewed sense of energy and is concentrating on things she enjoys. Another source mentioned,
“She is independent and intelligent. She needs time to heal.”
