Another gray celebrity divorce has been filed. American actress, Betsy Brandt, 51 and her husband of 25 years, Grady Olsen have called it quits to their marital relationship.

American actress of Breaking Bad fame, Betsy Brandt, 51 has parted ways with her husband, Grady Olsen. TMZ reported that she has filed for divorce on 26 December 2024. As per the legal documents, she has put the reason for seeking divorce as irreconcilable differences.

The papers also state that the couple have been separated since more than a year. The exact date of separation has been quoted as 1 August 2023. This was just one month before their 25th wedding anniversary.

Just like Jennifer Lopez, Betsy also has hired no lawyer to fight her case. She will do it all alone and herself. The couple has yet to finalize on how they would divide their assets. However, Betsy has requested for physical and legal custody of their minor child, son Freddie who is 16 years old now. It is not sure whether the two had signed any prenuptial agreement.

The relationship timeline of the couple

Betsy is an alumni of University of Illinois campus at Urbana-Champaign from where she completed her BFA in acting in 1996. Grady was also studying at the same university. The two met there and started a relationship.

They exchanged wedding vows in September 1998. Their first child was daughter Josephine who was born in 2005. Later, in 2008, Betsy gave birth to her second baby, son Freddie.

Though born in Bay City in Michigan, Betsy relocated to Los Angeles for her career. Grady and Betsy were spotted at Hollywood events together even in 2022. And now comes the news of their divorce. No official statement has been forthcoming from either Betsy or her husband, Grady.

Betsy Brandt’s career

After finishing her BFA, Betsy did MFA from Institute for Advanced Theater Training of Harvard University. She also took training from Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow. She did theatre at Seattle in Washington before moving to Los Angeles in late 1990s.

Betsy made guest appearances in several TV shows. Her breakthrough role came with AMC’s Breaking Bad in 2008 in which she played the character of Marie Schrader. This role continued until 2013. Later, she did a reprisal of this role in Better Call Saul.

Betsy has acted in Members Only, Life in Pieces and other TV shows. She is still active in acting. In 2024, she was cast as Jessica in The Bad Orphan movie. It is a loose adaptation of the adoption of Natalia Grace, 21. This girl was from Ukraine and American parents adopted her. But they abandoned her after two years.

Betsy plays the role of the adopting mother in this film. She has also co-produced the project. Talking about the role, Betsy told Entertainment Tonight at that time:
