American huntress Melissa Bachman! Her controversial trophy hunting, early childhood, career and relationships!
  • Melissa Bachman is an American huntress who has been both appreciated for her courage and also criticized for her animal killing and hunting!
  • She is a producer and a TV host.

She has her own show on Sportsman Channel called ‘Winchester Deadly Passion’.

She has been the subject of innumerable controversies in the past. So what are the controversies that have hit Melissa?

Melissa’s controversial hunting

Melissa is an extremely brave huntress. She has traveled the world and has hunted down many animals during these trips. Due to this, she is hated by animal lovers.

In August 2012, National Geographic Channel was planning to get Melissa as one of the contestants for their ‘Ultimate Survival Alaska’.

But soon on change.org, there was a petition by Tim Martell against this idea and it received a whopping 13000 signatures in just a days’ time. Due to this, she was eliminated from the show.

Melissa landed herself in another trouble when she uploaded on her social media a picture of her trophy hunting. She had put up a picture of a dead lion that she had killed. Melissa was seen beside this lion’s body holding a gun.

She captioned this picture as:

“An incredible day hunting in South Africa! Stalked inside 60-yards on this beautiful male lion… what a hunt!”

There was huge internet anger over this and she even received her death wishes over it. There were hate mail and death threats too! A Cape Town resident also requested the South African government to bar her entry into their country.

Melissa was not bothered by these hate messages and took the action of temporarily deactivating her Facebook and Twitter accounts. The death threats to her got diverted to another person with a similar name!

The hunt facilitators (Maroi Conservancy) defended the whole game and stated that the hunt was both legal and ethical and the funds from it were to go for donation.

Many also supported her and called the anger sexist. They also added that lions were not included in the endangered species. Melissa only said that she could do without those hate mail.

In 2015, she justified all that she does and added:

“No response at all seems to be the best. It doesn’t matter what you say, or how you say it, some people will always disagree and attack.”
