Tips from Jeremiah Brent

Jeremiah Brent has a wealth of information when it comes to home and interior design. Jeremiah told the audience that to have a stylish home one does not have to spend a fortune.

He stated that one can buy affordable antiques for the home from Living Spaces, West Elm, and Chairish. These stores offer quality at a bargain.

Jeremiah feels that just little changes to the homes can make a big difference. He exemplified it and it was interesting to learn about all these small things which could add beauty to one’s home.

Jeremiah said that to give a different look, one can add a throw or good-textured blanket to the back of the sofa will provide an interesting and quick visual change to the whole decor of the room. Other quick fixes include changing the throw pillows, side tables, or the lighting of the room.

Jeremiah prefers wicker over Lucite. He said:

“I just think Lucite can look really dirty,”

He continued:

“You don’t need a whole wicker headboard. Even just a wicker bowl can do the trick.”

He feels that wicker adds a texture to the whole aesthetic of the room.

Jeremiah also feels that the individual should have a special place in the house that he or she could make his or her own. As an example, Jeremiah said that he always asks his clients what is their favorite ritual or ceremony they enjoy the most.

One of them said that he loves his morning tea. Jeremiah immediately incorporated this into his design of the room for that person. He created a special quiet corner in the room where the room owner could relax with a mug of coffee and have a peaceful start to the day.

Jeremiah feels that even small children should have their own little spaces which would make them feel good. Talking about his and Nate’s daughter Poppy, Jeremiah said:

“If Poppy had her way, her room would be pink and flammable. Every synthetic material imaginable,”

“Her room will be what she wants it to be—if it’s within reason—because we believe that spaces should be an extension of yourself,”

Jeremiah suggested that to overcome the clutter seen in the kid’s room, keep lots of baskets there so that they put everything little thing into it and the place does not look messy.
