Who is Angus Young?

Angus Young is an Australian musician, lead guitarist, and song composer who rose to fame after co-founding the Australian hard rock band AC/DC.

His genres are hard rock, blues rock, and rock and roll which is much loved in his schoolboy-uniform stage presence.

For his enthusiastic performances, he was ranked 24th in Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 greatest guitarists of all-time list.  He created his version of Chuck Berry’s duckwalk and people were crazy about it.

In the year 2003,  the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted him and the other members of AC/DC.

He was born on 31 March 1955 with the birthname Angus McKinnon Young. Till he turned 7, he lived in his birthplace 6 Skerryvore Road in the Cranhill district of Glasgow in Scotland.

His father’s name was  William Young, wheel boy in rope works, post-man, a machine operator in the cement business. His father also worked as a flight engine mechanic in the  Royal Air Force serving in World War II.

To begin his career, he first joined a local group called Kentuckee. The band members were Bob McGlynn (vocals), Angus Young (guitar), Jon Stevens (bass), and Trevor James (drums). Later the band split and reformed as Tantrum replacing Bob with Mark Sneddon (vocals-guitar), others remaining the same.

Later, both Young and Malcolm were in a band with George and his music partner Harry Vanda called Marcus Hook Roll Band. The project released an album in Australia called Tales of Old Grand-Daddy. On 17 February 1975, AC/DC released their debut album, High Voltage. It was released exclusively in Australia along with a single love song, Baby, Please Don’t Go.

In the year 1979, their album ‘Ніghwау tо Неll’, bесоmе thе thіrd-hіghеѕt ѕоld аlbum glоbаllу, wіth 50 mіllіоn соріеѕ wоrldwіdе. To brief, he is one of the most loved songwriters and guitarists.

On 24 August 2006, Young obtained Kerrang! magazine’s Legend Award. It was granted by the editor, Paul Brannigan who referred to AC/DC as the most influential rock band in history. Later on 16 May 2012, he won the “Best Australian Guitarist of All Time” in a poll, which was conducted by Australian Guitar Magazine.
