RIP Anthony Rumble Johnson! Dead at 38
MMA star Anthony “Rumble” Johnson is gone too soon! The Bellator MMA announced the death of its beloved star paying a tribute alongside the post on November 13, 2022, writing,
“It is with great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson. The BELLATOR family is devastated by his untimely passing and we send our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Johnson died of prolonged cancer and its complications. One of his vital organs failed as a result of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a rare autoimmune disorder.
The late fighter had lost the battle of his life with a rare autoimmune disease. It feels like yesterday when in September 2021 he made his fans aware of his chronic health, however undisclosed, saying,
“Really wish I could go into detail about how ill I truly am. Just know I need as many prayers as I can get and I’ll see you in 2022 God willing. Never been this afraid of anything in my life but I’ve remained strong with the support of friends and family.”

Fellow MMA fighter led a tribute to the late Rumble
The UFC team led sincere condolences to the mourning family of the deceased. Daniel Cormier who last fought with Anthony Rumble Johnson in his May 2021 fight, also penned a tribute and expressed his grief for the late MMA star on Twitter,
“Rest Easy my brother. For a guy who struck fear into so many peoples heart Anthony Johnson was a caring person. From random text to check ins during loss. What a person he was, Rumble will be missed. Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair. Horrible news.”
UFC president Dana White also recalled Johnson and his memories saying,
“He was always in fun fights and he had that one-punch KO power that not many people ever had. He was a good human being. I send my condolences to his family.”
Fellow UFC Fighter Manlet King also is deeply saddened by the death of Johnson as he wrote,
One of the scariest punchers in the UFC, power carried to 4 different weight classes. He will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson
Michael Chiesa then commented about the Knockouts of the late MMA fighter and expressed sorrow towards the family of the deceased, tweeting.
RIP Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. One of the most prolific KO artists our sport has ever seen. My prayers go out to his family and everyone affected by this tragedy.
