The Auckland wedding of former Bachelor Zac Franich and TV host Erin Simpson hung in balance as Auckland International Convention Center burned for three days!

Former Bachelor star Zac Franich was getting married to TV host Erin Simpson.
It was in Auckland right next to the huge Auckland convention center which was in blaze recently.
The couple’s wedding was in danger of being called off.

There was a huge fire that hit the Convention Center in the center of Auckland city. Firefighters tried to control the huge blaze but in vain. For three days, the fire continued to rage.

It affected public life and brought the whole of Auckland to a standstill. The fire was in the center of the city and caused road blockades and jams.

The citizens and those living in Auckland were warned to stay indoors and not venture out. The city authorities told them to keep their doors and windows closed to avoid the toxic fumes and smoke which was filling the city. Those living outside the city limits were told to not travel to the city unless it was essential.

As the International Convention Center continued to burn and firefighters tried to overcome the blaze, the wedding of Zac Franich and Erin Simpson also hung in balance.

The couple’s wedding was to take place at the Cathedral of St. Patrick and St. Joseph on 25 October 2019. This Cathedral is bang opposite the Sky Tower. Besides, the caterers for the event were Sky City.

The fire department was still fighting to control the fire until late on Thursday night on 24 October 2019. They were unsure whether they can go ahead with the wedding the next day.

But the firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and announced late that night that they have got success in their job.

Erin gave an interview later on Woman’s Day. In this, she spoke about her wedding which was at risk of getting canceled.

She said:

“[Sky City] cancelled all their events for two days and they were unsure about our wedding. We’d left $10,000 worth of alcohol with them and they didn’t know whether they’d be able to get it out,”

The couple had a hectic time prior to the wedding. In that uncertainty, there were frantic calls to and fro calls to the caterers, priests, and guests. They were unsure of their wedding and it hung in balance.

Erin added:

“I tried to stay calm. The fire was still going and all the roads around the church were blocked.”

The couple met at the start of the year 2018. Soon, they began dating and engaged after one year in January 2019. They already moved in together in April 2018.

Earlier, Zac was dating his reality TV partner, Viarni Bright. After five months of courtship, they split.
