How does the liberation of transition feel? Learn from Ellia Green
Ellia Green, the 2016 Summer Olympics gold medalist from the very beginning was aware of her true sexuality. After coming out as a transgender man on a digital platform on 16 August 2022, she expressed,
“I just knew it was going to be the most liberating feeling when I had that surgery and when I started to take the steps towards being in the body I know I’m meant to be in.”
The Australian rugby union and rugby league player Ellia Green being part of the Australia rugby sevens team has set an Olympics milestone. She now had listed herself as the first Olympic athlete to come out as a transgender male.

The father of daughter Waitui with partner Vanessa Turnbull-Roberts roars in liberation which came from his transition. He could not love his body better as he said,
“That was definitely something that was a bright spark in my mind during these dark times.”
He is undergoing a procedure to remove his breast tissue (subcutaneous mastectomy) anytime soon. Overall he is practicing body and mind positivity at this point in life.

How does Ellia Green feel while growing up as a trans child?
Green who played for the New Zealand Warriors in the NRLW while coming out told,
“As a kid I remember I thought I was a boy in public, I had a short (haircut) and whenever we met new people they thought I was a boy. I always used to wear my brother’s clothes, played with tools, and ran around with no shirt on. Until I grew breasts, and I thought ‘oh no’.”
The adopted child of father Evan and mother Yolanta was in dilemma for dressing like a girl. He used to wear dresses only to please his adopted parents as he stated,
“My Mother would dress me in girlie outfits … I always wanted to make her happy, so if she wanted me to wear a dress, I wore a dress.”

What is the main purpose of coming out?
The trans athlete was always desperately willing to end transphobia and homophobia in the sports industry. With the intention to inspire others like him to live their true identity and aid others with mental health issues he came out.
The video shared by Ellia Green premiered Tuesday (August 16, 2022) during the Bingham Cup International Summit. He no longer could hide the truth and thus, decided to reveal his true identity.
“Towards the end of my career I started having some difficulties with my mental health. One promise that I made to myself, that when my rugby career ended, I would continue to live the rest of my life in the identity and the body that I should have.”
Ellia Green had documented a video about his sexuality which includes his retirement plans. He added that his life gave him a second thought after not being selected for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
