Bebe Rexha slams body shamers and TikTok search suggestions
Bebe Rexha is not holding back from giving it back to her body shamers who trolled her fluctuating body.
The Me Myself & I singer tweeted on Friday, alongside a snap of her bathroom mirror selfie with her tummy exposed,
“Yes I’m in my fat era and what?”
Bebe did not stop there and further shared a screenshot of TikTok‘s suggestions which included hurtful phrases like “bebe rexha coachella fat” and “bebe rexha getting fat same.”
Moreover, the video-sharing app also had “bebe halftime fat” and “bebe rexha before and after’‘ in their suggestions.
In April, the songwriter slammed the app for similarly suggesting the phrase “bebe rexha weight‘‘ to its users.
On April 16, she tweeted,
“Seeing that search bar is so upsetting,”
“I’m not mad cause it’s true. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to all the people who love me no matter what.”
A few days later, the I’m Good songstress revealed in an interview that her weight gain was because of a diagnosis of PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosis,
She said on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
“I literally jumped, like, 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more. But we gotta just be positive and just show people love,”
Rexha became more loving and accepting of her body
Bebe Rexha said that she understands that criticism is a part of being a public figure but it does mess with her mental health.
She said,
“You don’t know what somebody’s going through, what they’re going through in their life, so it kind of is tough. But I feel like we’re in 2023 … we should not be talking about people’s weight,”
This is not the first time Rexha has had to deal with body issues. Her body image struggles made quite a stir in 2021 when she revealed she was the heaviest she had ever been after eating a lot during the holidays.
The songstress posted a video on TikTok at the time and called herself disgusting for being too fat. She also admitted to feeling embarrassed about her situation.
Rexha said,
“I don’t feel good in my skin, and when I don’t feel good, I don’t want to post, and that’s really honestly the reason I haven’t been posting in the last year or so as much as I used to,”
Since then, the pop star has been more accepting of her body and is proudly flaunting her curves in public.
Last Month, Bebe made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in France. There she gladly showed off her body in a skintight little black dress by Defaïence on the red carpet.
