He was a member of the English squad that finished third in the mixed team event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. Lane won his first World Tour title at the Orléans Masters in 2021, defeating the Indian duo of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnu Vardhan Goud Panjala in the final.
He competed in the Summer Olympics in 2020, but was eliminated in the group stage. Lane and Sean Vendy earned the men’s doubles bronze medal at the 2022 European Championships in Madrid after losing in the semi-finals against Germans Mark Lamsfuß and Marvin Seidel.
