Ben Miller is a British comedian, actor and author who came into the limelight as one-half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller. Similarly, he is also known for playing the role of DI Richard Poole in the crime comedy-drama television series Death in Paradise.

His other film credits include There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble, Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance, and The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir.

He is the son of a Welsh mother Marion and an English father Michael Miller. He spent his childhood in Nantwich, Cheshire. His father was American literature at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic.

His maternal grandfather was a Lithuanian immigrant was paternal grandfather was a tailor in the East End of London. Similarly, his paternal great-grandmother used to work as an English teacher at South Cheshire College. As per his siblings, he has two younger sisters, Leah and Bronwen.

Miller went to Malbank School and Sixth Form College in Nantwich. Later, he studied Natural Sciences at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. During his college years, he participated in theatre alongside his then-girlfriend, actress Rachel Weisz. He stayed at Cambridge to study for a PhD in solid state physics, with his proposed thesis, Novel quantum effects in low-temperature quasi-zero-dimensional mesoscopic electron systems. Later, he dropped his thesis to pursue a comedy career.

He also began his acting career working in Steve Coogan’s first feature film, The Parole Officer (2001). Similarly, he also portrayed the role of Bough, sidekick to Rowan Atkinson’s title character, in the film Johnny English in 2003. In the following year, he appeared in the romantic comedy The Prince and Me.

Moreover, he also made his appearance in two series of the BBC television series The Worst Week of My Life, with Sarah Alexander. He also participated in a three-part Christmas special, The Worst Christmas of My Life in 2006.

Furthermore, he depicted the character of James Peregrine Lester in ITV’s 2007 sci-fi drama Primeval. Likewise, he was also featured in the Australian mockumentary film Razzle Dazzle: A Journey into Dance as a children’s dance instructor Mr Jonathan.
