Beyonce Knowles arrives late at the 2023 Grammy Awards
Even Beyonce Knowles has to deal with traffic.
Queen Bey, unfortunately, missed her first win of the music’s big night at the 2023 Grammy Awards due to heavy traffic outside the arena in Los Angeles.
The pop icon won the award for Best R&B Song but she was not there to see her win. However, Terius Nash and Nile Rodgers were there to assist as they rushed to the state to accept the award on her behalf.
While Nash, aka The Dream, was thanking the crowd in what later became a censored speech, the night’s host Trevor Noah intervened to explain why the Queen was missing from the stage.
The former Daily Show host explained,
“So for real, Beyonce is on her way. The upside of hosting the Grammys in LA is that everyone can be here, the downside of hosting the Grammys in LA is the traffic,”
The comedian went on to say that with that one win, the Crazy in Love singer is now tied with George Solti to become the most Grammy winner of all time which is a whopping 33, thanks to her powerful 2022 record Renaissance.
The superstar is yet to add more Grammys to her name with her future projects.
Almost everyone in the crowd was waiting desperately to get the Countdown hitmaker’s glimpse. Singer Lizzo who attended the show with her boyfriend was also waiting for Queen Bey’s arrival.

Noah later delivered a monologue where he mentioned that Beyonce was in fact sitting in the corner of the arena. Meanwhile, Lizzo screamed Where?! as she tried to spot the pop icon.
While Queen Bey was late for the show, her husband Jay Z was already at the show before she arrived.
However, the singer joined the Empire State of Mind rapper right after she arrived at the venue. She was also presented with her award shortly afterward.
The mother of three took the awards for Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Traditional R&B Performance before the main show. She received a whopping nine nominations in total.
Jay-Z also received a nomination as a songwriter alongside Bey for Album of The Year and Song of the Year.
Bey later acknowledged the crowd where she thanked her late Uncle Johnny, whose name she famously mentioned in the hit song Heated. She also thanked her husband and children and did not forget to mention the LGBTQ artists who inspired her for the album.
She said,
“I’d like to thank the queer community for your love and for inventing the genre.”
Trevor also celebrated the Single Ladies hitmaker’s win saying,
“We can finally end the GOAT debate; it’s done now – it’s Beyoncé,”
