What is BTS’s “Butter” about?
This song doesn’t focus on subjects like self-love, bullying, depression, etc. At a press conference in Seoul on Friday, the group had said they had intentionally created a light-hearted song.
There aren’t complex themes going on in ‘Butter’, the group members had said in the press conference. Its lyrics are literally about the boys being so charming, and they make fall in love with them.
The song starts strong with an allusion to the king of pop, Michael Jackson. In 1987, he dropped his smash single “Smooth Criminal,” which BTS nods to when they say they’re “smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover.”
The song also said that they may be smooth like butter, but they can also make anyone melt like the ingredient.
