Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the Bills’ game against the Bengals
Everyone watching was shocked when Damar Hamlin collapsed in the Buffalo Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals which has been postponed.
After tackling Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins, Hamlin stood up before collapsing to the ground. The majority of the Bills roster left the sidelines and entered the field to kneel or stand around Hamlin while a stretcher and ambulance arrived.
On the scene, first responders deployed an automatic external defibrillator and performed CPR on Hamlin. As Hamlin was placed inside an ambulance, oxygen was administered to him. The only adult level 1 trauma center in the area, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, received him for transport.
Several Bills players were spotted sobbing while Hamlin received medical attention. Other athletes hugged or clasped hands in prayer. At 8:55 p.m., Hamlin collapsed on the ground. At 9:08 p.m., ESPN ended its coverage from the field and entered a studio.
As officials decided whether the play would restart, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott and Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor conferred with them. At 9:17 p.m., the contest was momentarily put on hold, and both teams entered the locker rooms. At 9:25 p.m., Hamlin boarded the ambulance and left.
Nearly an hour after Hamlin passed out, at 9:52, McDermott and a few Bills players left the locker room. The game was called off for the evening at 10 p.m., according to the NFL. If and when play will continue are still to be decided.

Damar Hamlin “is expected to remain under intensive care as his health care team continues to monitor and treat him,” the Bills said in a statement on Wednesday.
