Another celebrity marriage is on the verge of collapse! General Hospital star, Cameron Mathison, 54 is divorcing his wife of 22 years, Vanessa Arevalo. The two issued a joint statement to announce their separation.

Cameron Mathison ends his married life with Vanessa Arevalo

Canadian actor and TV host, Cameron Mathison who starred in General Hospital, 54 is ending his married life with his wife of 22 years, Vanessa Arevalo. The couple released a joint statement on this matter. The statement read:

“We enter this new chapter with deep love, kindness, and respect for each other,”
“We hold gratitude in our hearts for the wonderful years we shared together. Our children have been and will continue to be our highest priority, and we will forever share in our devotion and love for them.”

Further, the post on Instagram stated:

“We remain friends, and both wish the best for one another. We sincerely appreciate your respect for our family’s privacy during this transition.”

Vanessa herself has been an international model and also featured in music videos, TV shows, and commercials. Cameron had portrayed the role of Drew Cain in the famous TV serial, General Hospital.

The relationship timeline of the couple

Cameron and Vanessa started a relationship and they exchanged wedding vows on 27 July 2002. Earlier, Cameron had proposed to Vanessa in Vail, Eagle County, Colorado. It seemed a happy marriage. They welcomed two children together. Their elder child is a son, Lucas Arthur was born in April 2003 while their daughter came in July 2006. Her name is Leila Emmanuelle.

On 9 September in the year 2019, Cameron had announced about his diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma. In 2022, Vanessa had appeared with her husband in three episodes of the TV soap opera, General Hospital.

Cameron posted on his Instagram about it writing:

“(Producer) Frank Valentini made the character of Drew a reality for me, and now he has made Vanessa’s dream come true as well,”
“Vanessa has been a ‘GH’ fan her whole life!”

“When I met her I was Ryan on ‘All My Children’ and she had no idea who I was … she only watched ‘GH.'”

Cameron had talked about his marital issues

Cameron had given an interview to Entertainment Tonight in 2022. At that time, he spoke about the problems he and Vanessa were facing in their married life. Cameron said:

“We went through rocky times the first five years,”
“Getting through those times, and getting to call Vanessa my best friend and fully enjoy every moment together, it’s been better than I could have ever imagined marriage being for me.”

And now, just 4 days after their 22nd wedding anniversary came the news of their split.

About his renal cancer, Cameron had posted the sad news on his social media:

“I have a health situation that I want to share with you all.”
“About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney,”
“It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma … or kidney cancer.”
