Carl Crawford and his arrest
The former professional baseball player Carl Crawford has been dating a woman for the past 2.5 years. He also has a one-year-old daughter with her. But they split recently.
Harris County Court revealed that Carl tried to choke his ex-girlfriend off at her Houston apartment. He was angered because she was dating another man after his breakup with her.
The ex-girlfriend whose name is not released stated then fled the scene and alerted the police. They came in and arrested Carl, 40. He was charged with a felony and domestic-related violence.
He had tried to assault a family member and impeded her breathing. Later, Carl could get released from prison after he paid a bond of $ 10k.
The whole incident of domestic violence
After the couple broke up, Carl’s ex-girlfriend started a relationship with another man. This irked Carl who then asked her to meet him.
The ex-girlfriend agreed to let him come over to her Houston apartment and speak to her. She told the HPD detectives that on 8 May 2020, Carl came over to her Upper Kirby apartment.
She revealed in the court documents that Carl removed a semi-automatic handgun out of his pocket and ejected one round in the air.
He then placed the gunpoint on her forehead with one hand and grabbed her head and neck with the other hand. He kept questioning her new relationship.
At one point, Carl even pushed her to the ground. She further revealed that he slammed her head against the wall several times.
Describing the whole happening, the arrest affidavit states:
“The complainant stated that every time the defendant did not get the response he wanted, he would squeeze her neck tighter until she couldn’t breathe at all and everything began to get blurry and dark. The complainant stated ‘she felt like she was about to pass out and she felt if she were to be choked any longer that she would be hurt pretty bad.’ ”
At the time that Carl was assaulting his ex-girlfriend, their one-year-old daughter walked in. As Carl moved towards the girl, his ex-girlfriend took the opportunity and ran out of the apartment to the leasing office. Carl then left the scene of the crime and left his gun behind there.
Carl was in MLB and played for the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers. After 15 years, he retired in 2016. He also was a four-time All-Star.
