Carly Hughes Quits ‘American Housewife’ Over ‘Toxic Environment’ And Discrimination’!

Carly Hughes exists American Housewife
The American actress was not on the second episode of the fifth season of American Housewife. Recently, she announced her departure from the series. However, she was on the premiere of the new season.
The production of this season was late due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She finally addressed she is no more in the show due to the toxic working environment.
Hughes stated:
“I was no longer able to work in the toxic environment that was created on American Housewife. I made the decision to leave to protect myself from that type of discrimination,”
Furthermore, she explained as a black woman in entertainment, she felt the necessity to stand for what she and all deserve. She also wished the show to go well and mentioned she is excited about the new chapter in her life.

Response from ABC network
As per the sources, after the allegations, ABC started the HR investigations. Followingly, American Housewife creator, Sarah Dunn is no longer on the active creator team of the show.
Moreover, Mark J. Greenberg is not working as the line producer on the show.
On the other hand, showrunners Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz took sensitive training. With the ongoing investigations, the spokesperson of the show stated:
“Carly was a valued member of the cast, and we had hoped she would return to the show this season. The concerns she raised led to positive changes to the workplace and improvements to the culture, but we respect the decision she made to move on. We wish her nothing but the best.”
They also explained they had hoped that she would return for the fifth season. The authorities acknowledged her concerns and took charges. Hughes was the only Black series regular on American Housewife. On the show, she portrayed the character of Angela.
