Actress Carol Locatell passes away at age 82
Carol Locatell passed away at the age of 82. The actress was known for her role as the profane Ethel Hubbard in the movie Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning, as well as her work in three films alongside the late actor Burt Reynolds.
She had been fighting cancer for a long time and passed away at her home in Sherman Oaks on April 11. Her husband, Gregory Prestopino, a songwriter and record producer, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. The couple had been together for five decades.
Despite surviving tongue cancer eight years ago, the actress continued to act and favored theater work over other acting jobs.
Ron Sloan, who played her son Junior in Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning, announced on Facebook on Monday that Locatell had passed away following her battle with cancer.
In a lengthy and heartfelt tribute, he announced:
“Dearest friends, fans, and Horror family, with great sadness, it breaks my heart to announce that my Friday the 13th Part 5 Mom, (Ethel Hubbard) Carol Locatell has passed away. She had battled cancer for many years. For the longest time, I thought she [was going to] kick cancer’s ass, ’cause she really was a tough lady.”
He also wrote about how blessed he was to work with the actress and asked for prayers:
“From laughter to tears, I was truly blessed to work with this wonderful, brilliant, actress / mom. Her sailor mouth will truly be missed at the next convention. Please say a prayer for her and her family. She truly did love her fans, and we truly had so much fun together meeting you. Please feel free to post your pictures and memories of Carol to celebrate her life. Many blessings and #F–K CANCER!”

Short Bio of Locatell
Born in 1940, Carol Locatell made her acting debut in a 1967 episode of the famous sitcom The Flying Nun. Six years after that, she would make her debut on the big screen as Priscilla in the action film Coffy (1973).
Locatell also appeared in several films with late actor Burt Reynolds — Paternity and Sharky’s Machine (1981), Best Friends (1982), Bug (2002), and The Family Stone (2005).
Her TV credits include M*A*S*H, ER, Ally McBeal, Bonanza, Touched by an Angel, NYPD Blue, Scandal, NCIS, Mad Men, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, Shameless, and more.
She was, however, best known for her role as the mean Ethel Hubbard in the 1985 slasher film, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning.
