Traveling around the World

Cassie De Pecol has visited every country in a year and a half. She traveled to 196 sovereign nations in a span of 18 months and 26 days. While traveling, she also promoted peace in her possible way by meeting people from every country in the world.

The last Guinness World Record holder took double the time for the trip than Cassie.

While Pecol was studying in college, she thought that to travel the world one needs to have a larger purpose. In July 2015, she started her tour as an ambassador for the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism.

A good friend once told me, "You can never help someone get up the ladder, but you can help them get on the ladder.", and he was right. ? • • • All my (adult) life I'd tried to get friends, family and strangers to step outside their comfort zones and travel. I'd teach them how they could do it cheaply, too! And I'd get bummed when they wouldn't actually do it. I was naive to think that their passions for travel were as strong as mine, but that's okay! Now that I've completed Expedition 196, and even throughout, I receive hundreds of questions a day on how to pursue cheap travel, follow ones dreams, etc. The problem back then, was that I was aiming to help people realize that their passion was travel. Now, I want to help you realize that your passion could be anything. Those top 3 things that excite you ARE your passions, and you should follow them to happiness and inevitably, a successful career. … But how? ? • • • I realize I can't help everyone, get up the ladder in this moment in time, but my goal is to help you to see the steps it takes to get there and to take that first big step. That first step requires 110% commitment, and that is the most difficult first step to take, in my humble opinion. For once you're committed, there's no turning back. ? • • • So, until I open one-on-one coaching, I'm starting a seminar which launches June 2nd. It's called The Expedition 196 Entrepreneur, and it's designed to help you realize those three things that excite you, and apply them to a real life passion project that also incorporates addressing one of the 17 UNSDG's. At the end of the 3 month seminar, for those who registered for "The Entrepreneur" option (there are three: "The Seeker" $5/once a week LIVE session, and "The Explorer" $25/individual course), will be able to pitch your proposal to me, for the opportunity to have Expedition 196, LLC. as your first sponsor, kickstarting your passion project, whatever it may be! ? • • • If you're passionate about realizing your dream, go ahead and register for The @expedition196entrepreneur seminar now while there's still slots! ⏳ ??Link in bio to learn more??

Called Hypocritical for boasting of a sustainable mission

“If you say, fly from Bangalore, India, to Colombo, Sri Lanka, you end up killing one tree during that flight, the goal is to plant two trees, for regenerative tourism, not just sustainable tourism,”

De Pecol said.

My home state, woot! ?? • • • On another note, I am back in the US after a whirlwind adventure with @quarkexpeditions in Antarctica. We cruised through a category 10 "storm" on the Beaufort Scale with 30-40ft waves and 50 knot winds. Safe to say, many of us were in our rooms throughout most of those two days as we crossed through. The Captain told us that it was the worst storm he'd seen since 2005 and also, that had we not left earlier than originally planned, the storm would have been, and I quote, an "unsurvivable" one. What a fantastic Captain to ensure our safety. It was an adventure and I honestly wouldn't have had it any other way even if I was a little uneasy about the waves ???? • • • Thanks for the pic @takingtimeout as we touched down on Paradise Island ??

She aims to make aware of the use of a heavy carbon footprint. She, however, planted trees in over 50 countries. Similarly, she said,

“It’s tough to figure out to get permission to plant a tree in a lot of countries, but I’ve been trying to do that as much as possible. I’ve planted close to 50 trees now but there’s about 500 more, so that’s just a goal.”

Funding for Trip

De Pecol had a total budget of $198,000 to travel all around the world. She started saving money when she was 25 years old.

Then later she went and acquired sponsors, she shared,

“I had to really utilize Google and be like ‘how am I going to find the funding to do this?’ ‘How did other people find the funding to do this?’ So I looked at people like Ranulph Fiennes who is considered the worlds greatest living explorer.”

She attracted sponsors like AIG to hand-painted tote bag artisan and eco-hotels for promotional coverage.

Talking about her work experience, she spent a couple of years traveling and working in hotels to satisfy her wanderlust.

Will probably go through one more of these bad boys before I finish #expedition196 #braggingrights

Managing criticism • • • It’s not okay to let others opinions (good + bad) shape who you are and who you aim to become, but I encourage you to let their words fuel you to pursue a life for yourself that you could have never in your wildest dreams have imagined. It’s always been a desire of mine to inspire others that would in turn, inspire myself to create and grow positively in the right direction. My motto has always been, “I want to live an iconic lifestyle where I do what I want, when I want, and inspire those along the way”. The negativity I get from this Expedition is vast, and while I’ll never know why I’ve been criticized for my hard work and dedication to make even just a small, positive change in our world or how I travel for that matter, this negativity contradictory, only fuels me to do bigger things and reach higher in order to craft something more vast and impactful to positively enhance our world, while leaving a great legacy behind. Thankfully, the judgements that I’ve read have really fueled me to start several major projects that I’ve recently started working on. I often wonder that if I never received this criticism from others, I’d never be driven enough to change our world for the better… and hopefully one day I won’t rely on these judgements to make these great forward movements in life, but for now, it’s worked well enough. Never define your value as a person based off what people tell you about who you are or what you do. Own your life, own your values, own your morals and never let anyone dictate your decisions or frame who you are or who they think you should be. It is your life and no one has a surefire solution to a successful and winning outcome, but you. So, I encourage you to use not only fear but negativity and criticism from others as embers to your flame. It is only then, once you let all those opinions go, and watch those embers burn to flame, your truth and your story will flourish and you’ll be boasting with confidence as to where you’re headed. Choose your hard. PC: @unmaderhyme

What are Her Plans after 196 countries?

De Pecol is a traveler and says she may never have a permanent home,
“I thought, you know what, it actually scares me a little bit. I would quit like after a week.”

There’s just one place De Pecol hasn’t been: Antarctica. While not technically a sovereign nation, she’ll journey there with Quark Expeditions in late February.

I was like, hey, if I go to six continents, 196 countries, I may as well hit up the last continent,”

De Pecol said.
