Moving forward, in 2009, she joined the Council of Economic Advisers as a member of the former President, Barack Obama. Meanwhile, she became the dean of the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.

Later, she also served as the founding director of the Prince University Education Department. Also, she became a member of the National Academy of Education.

Besides that, she is currently serving as the board member of the nonprofit organization, MDRC, and director of the T. Rowe Price Equity Mutual Funds. As a researcher who holds a primary interest in labor economics, she was also associated with the Journal of Labor Economics.

In 2018, she signed amici curiae brief to support Harvard University in the Students for Fair Admission V. Harvard lawsuit. In November 2020, she was nominated as the chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
