- Tanning expert Jules von Hep gives fake tans to people, especially celebrities
- He has used his tanning skills on actresses such as Blake Lively, Sienna Miller, and Kate Moss
- He is an international name and bronzes people’s skin
- So what is his routine like
Jules and his business
Jules revealed that he is extremely busy throughout the year and especially on weekends since celebrities want to be tanned before their important events which happen mostly over the weekends.
He has treated celebrities even in the late hours such as 3 or 4 am since that is the only time that they have to spare in the whole day.
London-based Jules said:
“Sundays are incredibly busy for me in the celebrity world. Friday nights are also busy, because celebrities have weekend events. I’m working around their schedule, which is not a normal schedule. I’ve done spray tans at 3 a.m., 5 a.m., in the only five minutes a celebrity has that day. Sometimes we don’t even talk! They just close their eyes, and I spray.”
He added:
“I am on call constantly. I never leave home without my passport, clean underwear and a bottle of tanning mousse and a mitt,”
Jules, 31 continued:
“I wake up without any clients, and then by the end of the day I’m on a plane somewhere.”

Jules and his clientele and advice
Jules said that he is very strict when it comes to tanning and does not want his client to be distracted. He provides proper after-tax advice so that there is no failure in his treatment.
He said:
“There’s a high pressure when you leave the client. Celebrities get distracted quite often, so I tell them ‘I need you to not get wet. You can’t mess this up, because you’re the face of a whole fashion campaign.’ I’m very strict.”
Jules has been in this field for the last decade and more and his coach was Nichola Joss who is a celebrity facialist and has managed the faces of Meghan Markle, Margot Robbie, and Cate Blanchett.
Talking about his relationship with his clients, especially females, Jules clarified:
“There’s a relationship and they’re becoming your friend, but you’re there to do the job, so you have to keep it professional. Trust is a huge thing. You’re booked on your discretion.”
Jules aims for the right tan and also the right environment when he is giving the tan. He said:
“I have a rule when hiring someone for my team: Anyone in the world can do a spray tan with the right training, but I cannot train someone in the general energy that they’ll cast in the room. I turn up to someone’s house and I set the tone,”

He does not want to divulge his charges but states that if he has to fly to treat a person, the charges for the flight as well besides his own charges are recovered from the client.
The drawbacks of his trade
Jules admitted that at times he faces unusual demands from his clients. He said:
“I’ve been on shoots before [where] someone asked me to contour their butt to make it look bigger. They ask for a six-pack and I’m like, ‘This is a spray tan, not a magic wand.’ But I can contour anything and make it look amazing in a photoshoot,”
Jules is famous for his secret tans which look very natural and could be mistaken for a real sun-exposed one. But many a time, he also has to do curly hair, style outfits, and exfoliate a client’s back in order to make them look and feel good.
Sometimes he has met some horrible clients. He said:
“Sometimes when you meet with someone while their career is skyrocketing, they’re lovely, and then you meet them again and they change. I once left a shoot in Mykonos and I got on my flight and never spoke to the celebrity again, because she was so vile on the shoot. That’s hard, because you have a relationship and you have to cut it off.”
Jules has his own product called Isle of Paradise which is an at-home tanning product.
