Ectopic pregnancy and Charlotte Crosby
Charlotte Crosby had grave health issues in 2016 and faced great problems at that time. She was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy and needed urgent emergency medical care. She was only 29 at that time.
Former Geordie Shore star said:
“I didn’t know what it was, I didn’t know the signs, I didn’t know the symptoms, so that’s why I didn’t know what was going on with my body,”
She continued:
“I didn’t know the extremes of what could have happened until I woke up after the operation and I’d lost my left Fallopian tube and a section of my ovaries, because it had all ripped open.”
Charlotte recalls the day
Charlotte still has fresh memories of the tragedy. She recalled:
“I was still working, I had a really busy week in work – I had photo shoots, I had personal trainer days for my DVD, I was doing Geordie Shore press, I had press for my book that was coming out. But all that week, I was experiencing those excruciating pains. For a couple of days they passed, but then they came back ten times worse.”
Charlotte continued to narrate her experience. She said:
“The pain felt like my organs were being ripped open, and I knew I needed to go to hospital. At that point, I was scared. I was really scared,”
The treating doctors told her that had she been late in reaching medical help, it would have been fatal for her. She has been assured that she could go ahead with another pregnancy and there are lesser chances of repetition of this life-threatening condition.
Charlotte disclosed:
“The doctor did reassure me that I would be able to have children, I can have a family as big as I want.”
About ectopic pregnancy
In this, the embryo starts developing outside the womb and though potentially life-threatening, it is common and seen in 1 in 80 pregnancies.
The fallopian tube is the common site of implantation of the fertilized egg in an ectopic pregnancy and when it starts growing, the fallopian tube can get ruptured and lead to internal bleed. It needs emergency surgery to set things right.
