Who is Chi McBride?

Chi McBride is an American actor mostly known for his part in movies including ‘The Terminal’, ‘ I, Robot’, and ‘Boston Public’ among others.

Chi has more than 60 credits as an actor for his appearance in various movies and television series. He currently plays the role of Captain Lou Grover on the CBS drama ‘Hawaii Five-0’.

Chi McBride: Early life, Childhood, and Education

Chi was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 23, 1961, and was raised in the Seventh-day Adventist religion. He belongs to an All-American ethnic background and his name “Chi” comes from his hometown of Chicago.

Chi McBride attended Shiloh Academy, now known as Chicago SDA Academy which is a Seventh-day Adventist school. He later graduated from high school at the age of 16.

His first song “He’s the Champ” became successful and was a hit that led Chi to be signed by Esquire Records and he joined the rhythm and blues band Covert. After moving to Los Angeles, he successfully landed guest spots on Fox’s ‘In Living Color’ and NBC’s ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.

Chi McBride has been part of numerous movies and television series including ‘Married with Children’, ‘ What’s Love Got to Do with It’, ‘The Frighteners’, ‘The John Larroquette Show’, ‘The Parkers’, ‘King of the World’, ‘Dancing in September’, ‘God, the Devil, and Bob’, ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’, ‘Boston Public’, and others.

Chi has 8 nominations for various awards to his name as an actor. He was nominated for AFI Award in 2002 for his performance in ‘Boston Public’ in the category of Actor of the Year – Male – TV Series.
