Chinese – American actress-rapper Awkwafina is happy about the increasing representation and diversity of Hollywood!

Awkwafina on Hollywood and its representation
Awkwafina is an American actress-rapper who starred in the hit movie Crazy Rich Asians. It grossed a large amount at the box office and Awkwafina is proud to be part of it.
She is happy that Hollywood has now moved towards making movies with more diverse people and subjects. She is excited about this new trend of increasing representation in films of previously underrepresented groups.
Awkwafina said:
“I think that the response to the movies, especially with ‘ Crazy Rich Asians’ and now with ‘The Farewell,’ has been very telling, in that they’ve been missing something,”
She added:
“I think that the work that we’ve been doing doesn’t completely answer that kind of representation. I think there’s always going to be more representation to be had, but I think that they’re definitely going to set a stage for more stories to be told, more actors like me to be featured, more directors, more writers, all that.”
Awkwafina acknowledged:
“I think that it’s just a really cool time. I’m really happy and very, very, very proud to be a part of that.”
She portrayed Peik Lin Goh in the movie.
Awkwafina and her other films
Awkwafina, 31 whose real name is Nora Lum rose to fame as a rapper. She has two studio albums on her name-Yellow Ranger and In Fina We Trust.
She then took to acting and played Constance in the film Ocean’s Eight. Then came Crazy Rich Asians and her latest film was Farewell in which she had the role of Billi.
All these movies told stories about people who were till now not represented in the world of American entertainment.
Awkwafina will now appear in the upcoming film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” in Marvel Cinematic Universe. The program duces plan to release the film on 12 February 2021.
Simu Liu will be in the lead role. Awkwafina is part of the film but her role has not been revealed. The happy actress said:
“I couldn’t believe it,”
“Then I looked more into who Shang-Chi was and I talked to [director Destin Daniel Cretton] about it. I’m just really excited for it and I’m really happy for Simu.”
Awkwafina is also a partner with the travel app called HotelTonight. She is promoting this travel app now.

Awkwafina was born in Queens New York City. Her father is a Chinese American named Wally. Her mother is from South Korea and is a painter.
But her mother died when she was 4. She was raised by her paternal grandmother. She studied at LaGuardia High School.
The talented actress used to play the trumpet and took training in jazz and classical music. She joined the State University of New York at Albany and majored in journalism and women’s studies.
She was at Beijing Language and Culture University in China from 2006-2008 for learning Mandarin.
