What happened to The Apprentice’s Claude Littner?
The Apprentice’s Claude Littner, 73, breaks his silence on his tragic bike crash. Littner who was given only six months to live after his diagnosis with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the age of 48 in 1997 is still standing strong but his leg had a terrific injury in 2022.
The Apprentice star Claude Littner revealed is doing ‘wonderfully well’ after his ‘freak accident’. He nearly had his leg amputated after the surgical operation, the electric bike crash could have been more fatal otherwise.
The 73-year-old is still grateful for the paramedics who arrived on the scene of his accident. He was lucky that the emergency aid could save his life, and luckier as an ambulance had been behind him after the fall. Talking about the terrific crash on Good Morning Britain he revealed,
“It was a freak accident. I think someone was looking out for me but if someone was looking out for me better, I wouldn’t have had the accident. I was lucky to have the ambulance driving behind me.”
Why could not Littner participate in the 16th series of the Apprentice
Claude who earlier couldn’t participate in last year’s season of the Apprentice is returning for the 17th series. The American-born English is grateful for the ambulance crew while he updated presenter Susanna Reid about his condition.
“I am doing wonderfully well, thank you. I am very grateful to the ambulance crew for looking after me and of course the surgeons at St Mary’s who put me back together.”
The former chief executive of Tottenham Hotspur kept on confessing about his disastrous bike accident in North London in April 2022. He continued explaining,
“I must have been doing no more than 10 kilometres an hour on this sort of two-track road. The next thing I knew, I was on the left-hand side of the street, my bike was in the middle of the road and I didn’t know what happened.”
“I suspect I hit a pothole or something like that, but I must have blanked out at the moment of impact, because the next thing I knew, I was lying on the ground.”
Detailing on how he was taken to the trauma unit at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, after the life-threatening accident, he said.
“My wife and my sons were there as well and [the doctors] decided they were going to amputate my leg. And then they had another chat about it and they said, ‘Look, let’s get him into theatre right away tonight and let’s see if we can save his leg’. And I went into theatre and it was a very long operation and they didn’t take my leg off.”
