Brad Pitt and his estranged wife, Angelina Jolie are into a prolonged and bitter divorce. And, Brad’s daughter, Shiloh Nouvel had filed an application in court to drop her father’s last name and retain only her mother’s last name. Now, it is learned that the Court has approved it. On learning it, what is Brad’s reaction?
Shiloh Nouvel drops her father Brad Pitt’s last name
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. Even after eight long years, the process is still unsettled. It has been a bitter end to their relationship.
The children of Brad also seem to not be on good terms with their father. The couple had three biological children together: Shiloh born in 2006 and twins Knox and Vivienne born in 2008. The two also have three adopted children: son Maddox, daughter Zahara, and son Pax Thien.
Earlier, Zahara and Vivienne had removed Brad’s last name from their names. After them, Shiloh too applied for dropping her dad’s lart name. From Jolie-Pitt, their new surname is only Jolie. It is now reported that the court has granted Shiloh the permission to change her last name.
What is Brad Pitt’s reaction?
Shiloh had applied for name change three months back on her 18th birthday. And on Monday 19 August 2024, her petition has been approved.
Sources reveal that Brad Pitt is deeply hurt on knowing that Shiloh has taken the legal route to drop his last name from her name. Despite that, Brad still hopes that one day, he will be able to reconcile with his children.
He also respects his daughter’s decision. Over time, Brad has got used to his strained relationships with his family. He has learnt to cope with the stress. The insider said:
“He knew this was coming and there is nothing he can do about it right now.”
“It’s sad but Brad’s strained relationship with his kids and Angelina is just a way of life for him now.”
Further, the source added:
“He respects Shiloh’s decision. He loves her and no matter what happens, he is always only a phone call away.”
“He will be there for Shiloh and any of his kids whenever they need, no questions asked. But it’s up to them to make the next move.”
Brad is still hopeful
Brad met Angelina on the sets of the film Mr and Mrs Smith. They began dating and exchanged wedding vows in 2014.
However, in two years time their marriage collapsed and the couple filed for divorce in September 2016. Another source told Daily Mail UK:
“Brad feels in his heart that after all the dust has settled and the years have passed that he will get a fair shot at being a part of Shiloh’s life again.”
“He knows that, with some of the other kids who are not biologically his children, they do not understand and may never allow him back into their lives.”
“But Brad truly feels that with Shiloh, as well as Vivienne and Knox, that when this divorce is over, and the lawsuits are far behind them they will take a good look in the mirror and realize that their father is a part of them.”
Brad is still optimistic and tries to soothe his pains with it. Shiloh hired a lawyer herself for the name change and also paid his fees herself.
Zahara had dropped Brad’s last name when she joined Spelman College in 2023. And Vivienne also did not use Brad’s last name in the credits when she assisted in production of the play, Outsiders.
Though in 2021, Brad got joint custody of their children, he lost it on appeal. He tried several ways to win his children back, but it did not help.
