Al-Nassr terminated the contract of Vincent Aboubakar to register Cristiano Ronaldo

According to the Daily Mail, the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has reportedly canceled the contract of Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar in order to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

At the 2022 World Cup, Aboubakar, who is most known for his time with Porto, scored the winning goal for Cameroon against Brazil. Nevertheless, despite being a well-known winner, Al Nassr cut him to make a place for Ronaldo.

Due to a Saudi League regulation that specifies a team can only register up to 8 foreign players, the striker will leave the organization. The club would have had to release one of their current foreign players in order to add Ronaldo to the squad, and they were aware of this before they signed the Portuguese talisman, according to the report.

According to rumors in France, Aboubakar and the club have agreed to terminate his contract, and the club will pay him compensation.

When will Cristiano Ronaldo make his debut for Al-Nassr?

Cristiano Ronaldo will make his Saudi Arabian debut with an exhibition team against Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly match that might pit him against Lionel Messi, according to Al Nassr coach Rudi Garcia.

Following Manchester United’s defeat against Everton in April, the attacker received a punishment from the Football Association for knocking a phone out of a young fan’s hand.

It has complicated Garcia’s planning for domestic goals by delaying Ronaldo’s eagerly anticipated debut, which is now slated to occur in a showcase match against PSG in Riyadh on January 19. He revealed:

“It won’t be with the Al Nassr jersey. It will be a mix between Al Hilal and Al Nassr.”

Ronaldo further added:

“As the coach of Al Nassr, I cannot be happy with this match. For development, to see PSG, to see the great Parisian players, indeed it is a good thing. But we have a championship game three days later.

Moreover, he continued:

“In terms of scheduling, it could have been better thought out. But it’s not a big deal… We are in the lead, we are happy. It is a difficult championship to win, but we intend to do it.”

Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr Contract Details

A month after terminating his contract with Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr, making it the highest-paid football contract in history.

After leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo was a free agent. After an explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he attacked the club’s owners, the Glazers, and manager Erik ten Hag among others, his contract was canceled by mutual consent. He lost his £26 million income as a result, however, he is now making much more money.

Al-Nassr would reportedly pay Ronaldo a staggering £172 million per year, according to Saudi Arabia’s state-owned TV Al Ekhbariya. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano asserts that the footballer’s income is near €200m (£177m) per year or the equivalent of £3.3m per week.

Ronaldo will receive a salary of $75 million according to CBS Sports, for his work with Al-Nassr. The remainder will be covered by image rights and business arrangements, and the former Real Madrid player is expected to be involved in the nation’s 2030 World Cup campaign.
