Daddy Yankee is giving up his musical career for Christianity
Daddy Yankee shocked his fans when he revealed that he is giving up his career to fully devote his life to Christianity.
The Gasolina hitmaker revealed that he was embarking on a new journey to pursue his faith during the last day of his farewell tour, La Meta in Puerto Rico on Monday.
Sharing a video of his speech on Instagram, Yankee said,
“Tonight, I recognize, and I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him,”
“For many years I’ve tried filling a hole in my life that no one could fill. I tried finding a purpose, on many occasions, it seemed as if I was happy, but something was missing for me to feel complete,”
The singer also noted that he had a tough time finding his real happiness despite having the world move to his beats and winning numerous awards.
The rapper then recited a bible verse in Spanish, saying,
“What good will it be for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?”
Adding that he would be moving forward by his birth name, Ramón Ayala, he said, “A chapter has ended but a new one will begin,”
After being in the entertainment business for many years, the Lo Que Pasó, Pasó singer, 46, wishes to use “the tools that I have in my possession such as music, social networks, platforms, a microphone — everything that Jesus gave me — for his kingdom.”
Yankee concluded,
“Just like Jesus, with his mercy, allowed me to travel the world, in your mercy, Father, I hope you allow me to evangelize the world from Puerto Rico. Amen,”

The social media post ended with a light above the arena writing, “Cristo viene,” which means ”Christ will come” in English.
The 4-time Grammy winner’s new decision was appreciated by his 49 million followers.
