Daniel Radcliffe becomes a father at the age of 34! He and his long-time girlfriend Erin Darke welcomed their first child together in April this year.

The new parents haven’t shared the gender of their child until the Harry Potter star gave an update about his newborn in an early July interview with Entertainment Tonight.

He shared with the outlet while gushing about his three-month-old son, stating,

“He’s great. It’s crazy and intense, but he’s wonderful and Erin is amazing. It’s also a real privilege to spend this time with him.

However, the name of his son is yet to be revealed.

The couple prefers to keep a low-key as they rarely share a glimpse of their personal life. They kept the news of their pregnancy relatively private until the child’s birth.

Similarly, he talked about his experience being a father for the first time in a new interview with Extra.

“He’s very cute. We’ve moved into a less screaming phase and he’s now giving us little smiles and giggling. It’s been a crazy few months, as anyone who’s been through parenthood would attest, But it’s also the literal best thing that’s ever happened, so it’s great. I feel very lucky to be able to have this time with him. It’s awesome.”

Daniel Radcliffe said his first priority will always be his son

In an interview with ET, Daniel Radcliffe said he is taking a break from his career for some time to spend time with his newborn. He told the outlet,

“I was always going to take time off, which not everyone can do, so I get to spend a lot of time here with him, which is lovely and we’re having an amazing time.”

However, Radcliffe assures that he is not thoroughly on a break but will be inventing his time for some project. He said,

“I think it certainly will [change]. It hasn’t really yet affected things, but I really like spending time with him, and I think I’m gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year,”

“So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective — not more selective, I’ve always been selective — but I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years.”
“I’ll never be stopping. I don’t think that’s good for me either.”

Prior to welcoming a son, Daniel Radcliffe discussed his desire to start a family while explaining how he is going to parent them. He told in a 2022 interview with Newsweek,

“I would love them to be around film sets. A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like, ‘God, you know, I’d love to be in the art department. I’d love to be something in the crew.'”
