What we know about Dolph’s cancer battle
Dolph Lundgren kept his diagnosis away from the spotlight until May when he opened up about his health journey during an episode of In Depth With Graham Bensinger.
The Creed II star said,
“They found a tumor in my kidney and they took it out … but then they did a biopsy and it was cancerous,”
“Then I did scans every six months, then you do it every year, then it was fine for about five years.”
The Aquaman actor confirmed that his cancer came back in 2020 when the doctors found sic tumors in his liver and kidneys.
At the time, the Norwegian trainer shared her then-boyfriend’s illness. She said at the time,
“His mouth got really sore, his hands got sore, his feet, and he couldn’t eat anything warm or anything cold, anything spicy,”
“So that was a struggle to get food down so he kept losing weight.”
Dolph Lundgren almost gave up hope after a doctor told him that he only had a few years to live.
Dr. Alexandra Drakaki then told him that he was able to treat his cancer by targeting mutations in his tumors.
He said,
“Within three months, things were shrinking by 20 to 30 percent,”
Dolph Lundgren added that his tumors shrunk by 90% and he felt lucky to be alive.
