A dozen awesome facts about the South Korean all-boys band BTS!
BTS or Bangtan Boys is a South Korean boy’s band. It was, formed in Seoul in the year 2013 and consists of seven members. This K-pop group gained popularity with their live performance and have done several world tours.

Origin of BTS and its full form
1. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan which in the Korean language means Bulletproof Boy Scouts. But in July 2017 it got the backronym Beyond The Scene.
2. The members of the band are Jin, Suga, J-Hppe, RM, V, Jungkook, and Jimin. The captain is RM. It stands for Rap Master but his full name is Kim Nam-joon. Jungkook is the youngest member of the group. Jimin is the shortest member at 173 cm. RM is the tallest at 181 cm.
3. The group did not come together on their own. It was Big Heat Entertainment company that auditioned to make this band in 2010. The group started garnering media and public attention 6 months before their launch through their cover songs and social media presence. So their entry into the music world was a gradual but effective one.

4. The band already has over 29 music videos and 22 singles in just 6 years. They have also won more than 53 awards until now. Their global sales are over 14 million albums. It is the largest in the history of Korean music until now. An achievement!
The band is the first Korean band to come on the list of US Billboard’s top 100. It is also the only one to be on this list. They were on this list for their studio album called Love Thyself: Tear.
5. Their high points and USP covering sensitive and relatable topics in their lyrics. These include school bullying, societal ideals, mental health issues, suicide, nihilism, and last but not least female empowerment.
6. The band is the brand ambassador for PUMA since 2015. They campaigned for Coca-Cola last year.
7. They are into philanthropy. Each of the band members donated KR₩10,000,000 (approximately 8950 USD) in 2017 for the 2014 Sewol Ferry Disaster.
8. Jungkook has more plans. He wants to open a duck restaurant or become a tattoo artist.

9. They reside in one of the most expensive apartment complexes in Seoul since late 2017. One unit in the complex costs more than $ 75 million.
10. The band members have expensive clothes. Their suits and wears for the performances come from Gucci, Calvin Klein, and WTAPS.
11. None of the band members hail from Seoul. They come from different provinces of South Korea.
12. They were on Time magazine’s top 25 Influential people list in 2018. The band was the top social artist of the year for three consecutive years. They were also the Best Duo/Group at the 26th Billboard Music Awards function.
