Even though the lockdown has been relaxed and filming for BBC shows has begun, social distancing is still in place. Care is still required since the coronavirus threat is far from over.

Kiss is very much a part of the UK culture and also soap operas. But how do get the stars to do it without breaking the rules of social distancing?

The bosses of the show EastEnders have found a way out of this dilemma. The stars are now kissing through a transparent plastic screen and not directly.

There are filming safety and health restrictions in place during filming. But show producers, directors, and the crew are finding ingenious ways to bypass them and yet be safe.

Kiss through a plastic screen

One of these ingenious ways to overcome the hurdle of safety and health regulations during filming is to use a sheet of transparent perspex while the actors kiss and then in the post-production phase, this sheet is removed digitally.

The other thing that the bosses are doing is to have the cast and the crew in work bubbles. Most of the show owners cast and crew had a difficult time during the pandemic and lockdown.

EastEnders, the award-winning show has been running since 1985 and it was the first time in 35 years that its production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The resuming of filming for popular BBC soaps

On 29 June 2020, the shows on BBC could resume shooting for the episodes. The fans and viewers are happy about this return of their favorite shows on TV.

Anyway, people were also bored since there was not much to do as businesses were also shut down, and schools and colleges, malls, and gyms were also not open. So the comeback of the TV shows was welcome!

But the new episodes of the show EastEnders last only for 20 minutes from the previous 30 minutes. Additionally, it airs only four days a week. Stacey Dooley has been the host of the special episodes that are airing now.
