• A showbiz drama unfolded when it was found that a 20-year-old man was trying to slide into the Instagram messages of the minor daughter of Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker who is called Alabama and is an aspiring musician.

The 20-year-old man turned out to be Echosmith drummer Graham Sierota. Travis Barker was furious and Graham has now issued an apology and clarified his side of the story.

How did the whole controversy start?

The drummer of the band Echosmith, Graham Sierota seemed to like the Instagram pictures of Alabama, 13 who is the daughter of Travis Barker from the music group Blink 182.

Alabama also makes music and is an aspiring and upcoming musician. Graham liked her music as well.

In 2016 when Alabama was 10, introducing herself to her online, Graham wrote:

“By the way I’m Graham from Echosmith and I think ur beautiful.”

It is not known whether Alabama responded to him. Later on 12 July 2019, Graham again went bold and invited her to a BBQ party. Alabama guessed that he was an older man and replied:

“Ur like 40.”

Correcting her, Graham’s response was:

“I just wanted to say i really like ur music and sorry for messaging and I’m 20.”

Alabama stated:

“Ok but u understand I’m a child?”

Alabama also put up another statement and this time she tagged Echosmith. She wrote:

“Hey guys! So once again I am bringing this to your attention because I’m a 13 year old girl and he is 21/20 super creepy.”

Father Travis Barker is furious

On learning of the going-on, Alabama’s father, Travis Barker, 43 was furious. He told The Blast:

“When I found out a 20-year-old man was trying to get in touch with my 13-year-old daughter by filling her Instagram messages with party invites and compliments I was disgusted. That’s predatory behavior and there is nothing cool, normal or ok about it at all.”

Alabama and her family have since deleted the messages from Alabama’s Instagram.

Graham Sierota and his apology

Graham Sierota quickly apologized for his comments and said that he did not know that the musician was a minor. He told The Blast:

“I had invited Alabama to my parents’ big family BBQ along with many other people, and it wasn’t until she responded that I realized her age at which point I apologized to her,”

He continued:

“I’m really sorry and feel very badly about this. I didn’t realize she was a minor and assumed she was my age. I made a careless mistake and this is a big lesson for me. And I would like to apologize again to Alabama, her dad Travis, and her family.”
