He discovered techniques to sneak into their system’s top-secret vaults, which he later revealed to the world via The Guardian and a filmmaker named Laura Poitras in June 2013.

However, the US government responded with claims of theft of federal property and illegal transmission of intelligence material to an unauthorized individual.
