The second son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, Harry quietly proposed to Markie the previous month. The royal family made the announcement that Meghan will be a British citizen before their nuptials.

This engagement has gained all the attention as she is going to be the first biracial woman who will be the first American divorcee to marry into the royal family in nearly 81 years.

During one of the interviews with the BBC’s Mishal Husain, Meghan revealed that she and Harry met in July 2016 on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. Moreover, the love started taking a path during a camping trip to Botswana.

She describes her marriage proposal as a “cozy night” at home. Moreover, she also described to BBC:

“It was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got down on one knee. As a matter of fact, I could barely let you finish proposing. I said, ‘Can I say yes now?'”

This is not the first time for the royal family to marry an American divorcee

Nearly 81 years ago, Wallis Simpson became the first divorced American woman to marry the British royal family. And Meghan is following in the footstep of Wallis by marrying the Royal family.

The relationship became a scandal in Britain as Simpson was still technically married to her husband when she started the relationship with Edward.

But in this case, there are no scandals as Meghan was already divorced before she started a relationship with Prince Harry.
