Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence‘s families are coming together as their children have announced their engagement.

Jasmin Lawrence, the daughter of Martin Lawrence, is set to marry Eric Murphy, the son of Eddie Murphy.

Eric proposed to Jasmin on November 27, 2024, just before Thanksgiving. The newly engaged couple has been dating for three years since they publicly revealed their relationship in June 2021.

The couple shared the joyous news on November 30 through a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a romantic video from the proposal.

In the video, Murphy could be seen leading Jasmin Lawrence into a beautifully decorated room filled with candles and rose petals. He then kneels in front of a large heart on the wall.

After the proposal, Jasmin joyfully admires her engagement ring, exclaiming, “It’s beautiful. Oh my gosh,” and happily says “Yes” before they share a kiss.

In June 2021, Eric publicly confirmed his romantic relationship with Jasmine.

He shared a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a photo of himself with Lawrence, expressing that he was “head over heels in LOVE” with her.

In a 2022 interview, Jasmin explained that she and Eric met through her uncle rather than through their fathers, who are famous for co-starring in the films “Boomerang” and “Life.”

She stated,

“It wasn’t even our dads, and they’ve done two movies together, They’re friends. I don’t even know. It’s crazy. But we met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level.”

Lawrence also joked about potentially getting Eddie to pay for a future wedding if the couple were to marry.

In a separate interview with CBS in July, Murphy joked that if Eric and Jasmin ever marry and have a child, he expects the child to be funny.
