Yvette Nicole Brown and Anthony Davis are officially married
‘Happy Married Life!’ Yvette Nicole Brown and Anthony Davis have taken a milestone step in their relationship.
The couple tied the knot on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in an “intimate, classy, and fun,” wedding held at The Maybourne Beverly Hills in Los Angeles with 200 guests in attendance
This wedding marks the first marriage for Brown and the second for Davis.
The 53-year-old Community star expressed to PEOPLE that she had no doubts about getting married. She stated,
“I had no nerves when it came to marrying this man, He is the one for me. Absolutely.”
On her wedding day, Brown was escorted down the aisle by her brother Paris, accompanied by music played by violinist Alan Price.
The moment was meaningful for her because their father, Omar, is currently battling Alzheimer’s disease, and their mother, Fran, passed away in 2021.
The actress shared that she was especially looking forward to the moment of walking down the aisle with her brother, who took on the role of their father during the ceremony.
She said,
“So my brother and his sister stood in, so it was nice to walk down the aisle toward family and with family, even if it’s not the family we wish we had in those roles”
On the other hand, Davis’ parents are no longer living. Since both of the groom’s parents are deceased, his brother and sister took on parental roles during the ceremony.
In a touching moment, Davis surprised his bride by arranging for her father to attend the wedding by coordinating with his care facility.
She was also thrilled that all of their friends and families would be meeting each other for the first time. She mentioned,
“The melding of these families is what I’m super, super excited about,”
Furthermore, Davis reflected on his relationship with Brown, stating that it feels complete, saying,
“If you can imagine having one wing in your life and trying to fly with one wing, you kind of go in circles, Now that I’ve found my other wing, I can fly straight and land where I need to land.”
Wedding attires
Yvette Nicole Brown wore a modest mermaid-style gown designed by Ines Di Santo for her wedding day.
To make the gown even more special, she requested the addition of two customized butterflies to honor her and her husband Anthony Davis’ mothers.
Brown described her experience of finding the dress, saying,
“I saw the dress by Ines kind of peeking out of a rack, and I just put my hand on it and pulled it out. I said, ‘What about this one? Can I try this one on?’ And it was absolutely the dress, So it was found just on a whim, almost. It was just meant to be.”
Gabrielle Corney styled her hair and added a headpiece from Maria Elena.
Moreover, Beth Carter did her makeup using products from Danessa Myricks Beauty and Ardell Lashes, with assistance from Markeisha Similton.
The first time Brown tried on a wedding dress was during her role as Helen Dubois on Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh, where her character gets married.
She recalls feeling emotional when she saw herself in the dress, explaining,
“I cried when I saw myself in the wedding dress, and the wardrobe woman thought I was crying because I looked so beautiful. First of all, I’m not the kind of chick to cry because I look beautiful … I was crying because I was like, ‘This may be the only time I’m in a wedding dress.’ And to realize that all these years later I was wrong and that I get to have my bridal moment as well, and my happy ending as well, it’s amazing.”
On the other hand, Anthony wore a custom brown three-piece suit from Vinny’s Custom Clothes. He then accessorized with cufflinks that had a handwritten message from his bride, Yvette Nicole Brown.
A Magical Reception! Star-studded performance and Exquisite Dining
At the reception, DJ Kacy “Mister Wilson” Wilson played music while guests danced and took fun pictures in a 360-degree photo booth.
Brown and Davis enjoyed a special dance to a song performed by their friend Grammy winner Leslie Odom Jr., accompanied by Dr. Richard Schectman.
They were delighted when legendary four-time Grammy winner Deniece Williams surprised them by singing her famous song “Free.”
Throughout the meal, harpist Mariea Antoinette provided musical entertainment, and afterward, attendees savored a delicious four-tiered lemon and strawberry shortcake from Cake Studio LA for dessert.
Guests also enjoyed signature cocktails alongside a dinner featuring sea bass and short rib.
How long have Yvette Nicole Brown and Anthony Davis been together?
Yvette and Anthony started as friends after meeting in their twenties. However, they lost contact for several years before reconnecting in 2021 and falling in love.
In 2021, Davis reached out to Brown after her mother passed away. The new bride shared while guest co-hosting on The View last December.
On the show, Brown described Davis’ sweet proposal that happened in her hometown of Ohio, where her high school had recently named its auditorium after her.
He surprised her with a lottery scratch card that read,
“Will you marry me?”
She humorously recalled thinking she would win money but ended up winning a fiance instead.
Having found love later in life, Brown expressed her hope that their story would inspire others, stating,
“It’s never too late.”
She continued,
“I’m not someone who really likes a lot of attention, and I realized there’s a way that I could have a wedding where I made it more about other people, in the sense that because I am of a certain age and I never thought it would happen for me, my wedding can be an inspirational moment.”
“I feel like it’s important to make sure that the way God has blessed me, that I remind people that He is still in the blessing business, and can totally bless them as well.”
