The first cannabis cafe of America, Lowell Farms: A Cannabis Cafe will open its doors to marijuana-lovers today on 30 September 2019 in West Hollywood, California!
A first-of-its-kind cannabis café is set to open today 30 September 2019 in West Hollywood. Lowell Farms is the supplier of THC and CBD-infused drinks, edibles, and treats.
There would be the non-infused food items as well. The celebrity investors include singer Miley Cyrus, DJ Mark Ronson, and comedian Chris Rock. But booze will not be sold there since the law prohibits the consumption of alcohol along with the pot. Let us gather more information on this new unique café.
Lowell Herbs Co. and their reason behind opening this cannabis café
The co-founder of the cannabis café, David Elias is extremely happy and hopeful about his new business. He said:
“Cannabis consumers have always been relegated to getting their cannabis in a plastic bag while you can go to a dinner party with a beautiful bottle of wine,’
‘People want to smoke a joint with their friends in a cafe like they can over a beer – not in the alley or in their car.’
This café aims to get people smoking joints out of the shadowy alleys and cars and put them in seats. The café will open its doors to the marijuana-lovers on 30 September 2019 and is located in West Hollywood in California.
More about the Lowell Farms: A cannabis café
The café has a seating arrangement for 220 people. These seats are both indoors as well outdoors. Here, the clients can legally buy pre-rolled joints and edibles containing the marijuana.
Also on the menu are THC-infused drinks. Tea, coffee, juices, sparklers, and smoothies are also served.
There is also a non-infused food menu to go with the joints and THC and CBD-infused drinks and edibles. These come from the well-known chef called Andrea Drummer who has authored Cannabis Cuisine.
The café got the approval of the city’s Business Licence Commission in July 2019 and is now located at N. La Brea Avenue. Sean Black and David Elias co-founded the cannabis brand Lowell Herb Co. and it is based in LA. They are supplying the pre-rolled joints to more than 300 dispensaries and will now also sell them at the cannabis café.
Sean said that the café marks ‘the end of prohibition’. The owners of the café have put a large billboard outside the café which reads:
‘Prohibition is almost over’.
The founders of the café want this to be a success since it is a landmark in the cannabis movement. The location of the cafe is such that it is not seen from the street and is covered with a fence. There is an air-filtration unit so that the smoke does not go onto the street. There is no sale of alcohol on the premises since the law of California prohibits the sale of alcohol with pot.
Investors and hurdles
Miley Cyrus, DJ Mark Ronson, and comedian Chris Rock are some of the celebrity investors of this café cum joint. There is a Jewish synagogue Congregation, Kol Ami, just across the street where this new café is located. The Rabbi of the synagogue Denise Eger was concerned that the smoke might drift onto the area where they are or onto the street.
But David Elias addressed the issue and everything was then clear. The air-filtration system installed in the café was the answer to the Rabbi’s concern. Sean wants to make marijuana socially acceptable similar to alcohol. He said:
‘Why can’t you go out to a really nice restaurant or cafe and instead of ordering beer or wine with your meal, you can order cannabis?’
