A woman has come forward and sworn that she had seen with her own very eyes Rep. Matt Gaetz at a party in 2017. It is not a crime to attend parties but the woman has revealed that at this party, there were drugs and underage women. The woman has given this statement to the House Ethics Committee.
Rep. Matt Gaetz accused of attending a drug-filled party in 2017
A woman has put in her sworn statement and stated that she had seen Rep. Matt Gaetz at a party in 2017. The problem was that at this party there were drugs and underage women. It is criminal and unethical for a politician to attend such parties. It would imply that he promotes such illegal activities and favors them.
The woman, whose name has not been disclosed, added further that at that time, she was 20 years of age and this party had taken place in Florida. The unidentified woman also revealed that the then-under-age girl with whom Matt supposedly had sex at that time was also present at the party.
This is part of a closed Justice Department investigation and an Ethics probe was ordered into it. The woman claimed that the party-goers had easy and free access to cocaine and MDMA at this party.
More details unveiled about the party
The woman who gave the sworn statement also said that the girl, who was minor at that time and with whom Matt allegedly had sexual intercourse, was at the party in a naked state. There were also other adult men at the said party. There were bedrooms allocated for sexual activities at this party, the woman recollected.
However, this woman did not elaborate on Matt’s conduct at the party. She also made no statement as regards his sexual acts at the party. She did not positively say whether he had sex with the minor girl at the party.
The Justice Department began its investigation into Matt’s role in human trafficking after his former girlfriend, Joel Greenberg, was arrested and pleaded guilty of six charges. These charges also included sex trafficking of minor girls.
About the probe of the Justice Department
The investigators on this case have asserted that Matt had sex with a 17 year old girl whom he used to take across the states of the USA with him during his travels. However, Matt had vehemently denied all these charges. A spokesperson for Matt, the Florida Congressman, addressed this sworn statement by the woman. The spokesperson again denied all accusations of the woman.
There have been no charges pressed against Matt as yet despite these reports and statements. This was because the credibility of the key witnesses was doubtful. In 2021, the House Ethics Committee revealed that it was also looking into the use of illegal drugs by Matt. Matt has denied that he ever used illegal drugs in his life. He said that the statements against him are ridiculous and false.
Matt had told Tucker Carlson, former Fox News host:
“The person doesn’t exist,”
“I have not had a relationship with a 17-year-old, that is totally false.”
The former House speaker, Kevin McCarthy, blames Matt for his ousting from the post. He told C-SPAN:
“I’ll give you the truth why I’m not speaker, it’s because one person, a member of Congress wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old,”
Matt responded on X:
“Kevin McCarthy is a liar. That’s why he is no longer speaker.”
“Just ask the 224 people who voted to remove him.”
