Former One Direction members reunited for the first time since their split to bid an emotional farewell to their friend Liam Payne.

Liam tragically died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Family and friends gathered to mourn Liam’s passing at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, located just outside London, on Wednesday, November 20.

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, this event marked the first public appearance of former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson appeared together publicly in nine years.

The four singers arrived separately at the church for the private service, with Styles dressed in black pulling up in a BMW.

Horan attended with his girlfriend Amelia Woolley, while Malik arrived shortly after Tomlinson.

A horse-drawn carriage carried Liam’s dark blue coffin, adorned with silver handles and topped with white roses, into the 800-year-old church.

Floral tributes on the carriage included a red display reading “son” and a blue one saying “daddy.” After the service, his coffin was transferred to a black Jaguar hearse.

Girls Aloud member Cheryl Tweedy, the mother of Liam Payne’s 7-year-old son Bear, attended the funeral alongside Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy, 25, and One Direction creator Simon Cowell.

The former X-Factor judge shared a heartfelt embrace with Payne’s parents, Geoff and Karen, to comfort them during this tragic time.

In January 2016, One Direction officially announced their split to focus on individual careers.

The remaining members, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and the late Liam Payne continued to perform together for a while before announcing an indefinite hiatus later that same year.

This decision was influenced by concerns about overexposing their fan base and the personal challenges they faced in the spotlight.
