Gay Colton Haynes lost his virginity at the age of 13, his current boyfriend and how he overcomes anxiety: Know all that here!
Colton Haynes’s new confession
American actor Colton Haynes disclosed on 12th June 2017 on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy that he lost his virginity at the age of 13 when he was in the 8th grade. Colton Haynes told American TV and Radio host Andy Cohen:
“I lost my virginity at 13 to a girl and a guy,”
He immediately clarified that it was not a threesome but on two separate occasions. He added:
“I’ve never said that before. The girl was two years older than me, and the guy was, I would say, around 16. … Everyone participated. It was a real first time. It was exciting.”
Colton also admitted to having sex with 4 women in his life.
After moving to Hollywood, in May 2016 he made his gay orientation public. Colton Haynes also said that he is not in touch with the guy with whom he first had sex. Andy Cohen asked him:
“Have you ever Facebook stalked him just to see what he looks like now?”
Colton Haynes answered:
“No, I haven’t. I don’t even remember his last name.”
Though Colton Haynes did not have a threesome during his teen years, he did have one later in his life. He said:
“We’ve all had them, but it wasn’t that time,”
Colton Haynes had hesitated to come out with his sexuality in the initial days since he was told that it would be detrimental to his career. He revealed:
“I was literally told from the day that I moved to Los Angeles that I could not be gay because I wouldn’t get work.”
His management had even tried to set him up with girls so that his real sexuality could be concealed. He said that there were also rumors spread deliberately that he was dating Lauren Conrad during those days.
The advice to his fans and youth
He also offered advice to those fans who are struggling with their sexuality. When one fan asked what advice he would like to give others, Colton had this to say:
“I can honestly say that it takes time to be comfortable enough to come out…it has to be on your own time but when I did…it changed my life for the better! It opened up so many doors for me and i dont have to feel like the elephant in the room anymore.”
He continued:
“Theres so much support i never knew was available for me and i am so proud to say that i am gay and it hasnt done anything to hurt what i love to do in life. Times are thankfully changing (sic).”
The openly gay star also said that it was not smooth sailing for him. He had to face intense turmoil and struggle and even had a ‘breakdown’ before he could come to terms with his sexuality. When one of his fans asked whether it was a challenge to come out, Colton said:
“It was an intense struggle for years. All the self shame lead me to have a breakdown and i had to quite for a while. Once i came out it all went away. I got multiple offers for work and honestly havent felt better. It changes your life and if someone isnt going to hire me for being born the way that i am…they dont deserve my time or energy. (sic)”
In the Mental Health Awareness Month of May 2017, Colton advised his younger self on how to overcome anxiety in a video message. Colton said:
“I think some advice I would give to myself when I was younger, especially about anxiety, would be that it’s OK to be anxious. Also, a really, really good way to help yourself get over anxiety is to tell yourself that you’re excited instead of that you’re anxious.”
He advised his fans thus:
“If you’re excited it’s almost the same feeling, but obviously without the panic part. So, whenever you start to get a little anxious, just tell yourself, ‘I’m excited about this. I’m not anxious about this.’ And that really does tend to help.”
Coming to mental health disorders, Colton said:
“You’re not alone. I think that that’s really something that I’ve learned in my recovery process for anxiety. There’s millions of people out there who suffer from crippling anxiety, whether it be from fainting or from sweating or so many [other] different ailments from anxiety. There’s so many people that have it and suffer from it, so you’re not alone. It gets so much better once you’re able to learn the tools to cope with it.”
He added:
“Sometimes just having a dance party can really, really, really help anxiety. Or just breathing in for seven and out for 11.”
His current life partner
Colton Haynes has been dating men since his high school days. But he had kept his gay sexuality a secret since he was told that coming out may harm his career. However, there were speculations about his sexuality for a long in the tabloids. In January 2016, one of his decade-old photos in gay Magazine XY was commented on.
He too gave an off-the-cuff response. This was taken by many to imply that he was coming out with his sexuality. But Colton was not prepared at that time to reveal the truth. He suffered anxiety and had to seek treatment for it for 3 months before he ultimately was ready to tell the world about his gay orientation.
He found a partner in Jeff Leatham the celebrity florist. Both got engaged on 11th March 2017. Colton Haynes is now a happy soul. Later Colton told Entertainment Weekly:
“It took me so long to get to this point, but I’m doing so good. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, and healthier than I’ve ever been, and that’s what I care about.”
Update on the couple’s relationship
Colton and Jeff got married and later split after six months of their marriage. After two months of their split, they reunited in July 2018.
