Gay couple Rob Mallard and Daniel Brocklebank has called it quits! Know about their short romance here!
The brief romance
English actor and Coronation Street star Rob Mallard, 25, and his gay partner and Coronation Street co-star Daniel Brocklebank, 37 have split. The couple has been dating only for a month or two. They, however, claim that they continue to remain good friends.
Shedding light on the reason for the separation, sources close to the actors have stated:
“It was a lot of pressure for both of them to be working on the same show and going out – in the end something had to give.”
They further added:
“They decided to part ways a couple of weeks ago but they’re still great friends and hope to remain that way.”
Daniel portrays the role of Vicar Billy Mayhew in ‘Coronation Street’. Rob Mallard plays the character of Ken Barlow’s son, Daniel Osbourne.
Their relationship revelation to the World
The couple started dating each other a couple of months ago. They had made it official when they walked the red carpet at the British LGBT Awards function which was held in May 2017 in London.
After this, when Rob Mallard received a prize for the Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards in June 2017, Rob acknowledged his partner and in his acceptance speech said:
“Even though this is fantastic, Dan you’re the best thing I’ve ever taken home.”
Rob had got the award for his role as the troubled Daniel Osbourne in Coronation Street. An insider has revealed:
“Daniel was instantly attracted to Rob. They got on well and soon developed feelings for each other. There is real chemistry. They know people will be interested in what is going on but they don’t mind.”
The viewers also took the couple’s relationship well and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them on Twitter.

Rob Mallard’s gay disclosure
Rob Mallard has been gay for a very long time now. He had opened up to his family and friends around 8 years back and had mentioned that he is quite happy and lucky to have such great family and friends who have accepted his sexuality and him.
He, however, did not come out to the public and media until January 2017 when he made it known to the World that he is gay.
Rob Mallard has remained open about his sexuality. But, once, he had revealed that he is a bit worried about having on-screen girlfriends. His main concern was that after knowing that he was gay, would his friends accept his on-screen role with a girlfriend.
He had elaborated:
“I never planned to keep it quiet that I was gay. The only concern I had was, if I’m with a female character, will an audience who knows I’m gay in real life believe it? But that was just my fears because I do believe they will.”
After he came out, Rob realized that his fans would accept him and that his fears were ill-founded.
Daniel Brocklebank’s revelation
Daniel Brocklebank had first come to know about his gay feelings when he was 12 years old. His early teenage years were spent in confusion. He was unsure of what it was and whether other boys also felt the same.
He revealed last year that he faced an identity crisis since there was not much information nor knowledge available at those days.
He had said:
“Back then there was no internet, very few gay people on TV or in the media, and we weren’t taught about homosexuality in school due to Section 28 – so for a while I thought I might be the only person out there who felt like that. I hated myself for it and hoped it was a phase.”
He let his family know about his sexuality at the age of 15 years. He felt relieved after he did so. Daniel also said:
“ I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love who I am.”
His handsome looks attract a number of females and he has a good fan following. His female fans tweet their love for him. But alas! Daniel is not ready to mingle!
