Gregg Leakes was the husband of RHOA star, NeNe Leakes. He died two years back due to colon cancer. What was their relationship timeline? Did NeNe remarry after the death of Gregg?

Gregg Leakes and his death

Gregg Leakes was the husband of reality TV star, NeNe Leakes. She was a cast member of the show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo channel. Gregg died on 1 September 2021 after a protected battle with colon cancer. He was only 66 years old at the time of his death.

Gregg was a self-taught businessman and used to appear on the show RHOA with his wife. In June 2018, doctors diagnosed him with stage 3 colon cancer. After treatment, Gregg was cancer free in May 2019. But two years later in June 2021, he had a recurrence of the cancer. He underwent surgery for it but succumbed to it on 1 September 2021.

Her statement to The Times read:

“Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife NeNe Leakes,”

The couple’s relationship timeline

The couple dated and wed in 1997. They have a son Brentt. They also have children from past relationships. But the marriage did not last and in 2010, the two separated. They put in the divorce papers on 29 April 2010. And on 29 September 2011, the court granted them divorce.

But the couple rekindled their romance and were engaged in January 2013. They walked down the aisle together on 22 June 2013 at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta. Their wedding was aired on Bravo channel.

After Gregg’ s death, NeNe was extremely sad. One month later, she talked about the final days with him. She said:

“The last five days before his passing was really beautiful,”
“All of his children were there. His best friends were there. Our closest friends were there. We all sat with him around-the-clock.”

She added:

“We talked a lot, and we made peace with what was happening,”

He had a promise and request for her. NeNe recalled what he said:

“I’m not going to leave you. God is going to bless you,”
“He said he wanted me to move on with my life.”

About his final moments, she said:

“He took a deep breath, and then he stopped. I thought I would be scared, but I just held him and kissed him,”
“I keep thinking to myself he’s away on a trip and he’ll be right back. I’m still waiting for him to come home.”

NeNe’s new relationship

Three months after Gregg’s death, NeNe was spotted holding hands of the CEO of Nyoni Couture, Nyonisela Sioh in Miami. At that time, Nyonisela was married to Malomine Tehmeh.

In May 2022, Malomine sued NeNe for USD 100k for having an affair with her husband. She accused NeNe of causing her emotional distress and making her marriage collapse.

Nyonisela filed for divorce in November 2022 and put their date of separation as 19 September 2021.

But in June 2023, NeNe and Nyonisela parted ways. Though most believed that the separation was an amicable one, Nene’s posts on her Instagram page tell a different story.
