Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson have legally parted ways
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has officially finalized her divorce from Ryan Scott Anderson as of December 9, 2024.
The news of the finalization comes eight months after she filed for divorce in April 2024, following a tumultuous relationship.
In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, Gypsy-Rose expressed her desire for closure regarding her recent divorce from Ryan. The 33-year-old convicted felon stated,
“I did extend the offer to have a civil conversation for closure purposes, I’m currently waiting on a response. He waived his right to attend [the court date].”
On the other hand, Anderson’s attorney, Randy J. Fuerst, commented that Ryan was aware of the divorce proceedings, noting,
“He’s always conducting himself as a gentleman and a good husband. He did not seek this divorce but is now glad that this saga in his life is over and he looks forward to a healthy new beginning.”
Blanchard further shared that she and Anderson have resolved their financial disputes.
Fuerst added that they have opted out of spousal support, but discussions regarding the division of community property are still ongoing.
On March 28, 2024, Gypsy Rose Blanchard publicly announced her separation from Ryan Anderson, citing a heated argument as the reason for their split.
A friend of Blanchard revealed that she felt Anderson was “controlling” and expressed fear during their disputes, which triggered memories of past trauma from her childhood.
In an interview with PEOPLE, friend Nadiya Vizier shared,
“He got in her face and screamed, Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary.”
Despite these allegations, Anderson, 38, denied any such behavior and stated he was “blindsided” by the breakup, and that “it just came out of the blue.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard reflects on her marriage and separation
After announcing her separation from Ryan, Gypsy Rose moved back in with her parents and later sought a temporary restraining order against him.
She admitted that following a disagreement with Anderson in March, she recognized their marriage was not sustainable.
She described her realization as a shocking moment, saying,
“It was kind of like my first shock of holy crap. I’m married.”
Over time, she understood that she was settling in the marriage, stating,
“It’s kind of like, okay, well, you know that you’re settling — that you’re kind of pushing on to just do what everybody else does in life”
The couple married in July 2022 while Gypsy was still incarcerated for her involvement in her mother’s murder.
Their wedding took place in a jailhouse ceremony without any guests. Gypsy was released from prison in December 2023, and she and Anderson were closely connected during this time, participating in multiple interviews together.
Unfortunately, their marriage didn’t last long. Gypsy announced their separation just three months later on March 28, 2024.
How is Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s life going post-divorce?
Gypsy-Rose has since rekindled a romance with her ex-fiance Ken Urker.
She expressed that their reunion allowed her to realize the depth of emotions they had built over seven years, describing it as an “amazing” reconnection.
The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star added,
“I felt a soul connection with Ken where I felt like I could be myself, I didn’t have to pretend to be anything. I didn’t have to hide the trauma that I had went through. I could open up about that stuff. We’re doing really good.”
In a previous interview with PEOPLE, she mentioned that Urker support her the most during her emotional challenges, which helped her recognize and accept her long-standing feelings for him.
“I’m in love, He was a support when I was going through emotional hardship. But then I let myself open up to the feelings I’ve always had for him. For the first time in my life, I’m doing something that makes me happy — I’m prioritizing me.”
In May, Blanchard announced that she and Urker are expecting their first child, a girl due on January 22, 2025.
They celebrated this milestone with a baby shower in Louisiana attended by about 25 friends and family members.
Blanchard revealed that they have named their daughter Aurora Raina Urker.
Reflecting on motherhood, Blanchard expressed her desire to give her daughter the happiness she lacked in her own childhood. She said,
“Giving my daughter a happiness I never knew growing up.”
On November 5, Gypsy-Rose confirmed that Ken is the father of her baby after taking a non-invasive prenatal paternity test.
While they have discussed marriage plans, Blanchard emphasizes the joy of parenting and the comfort she feels in her relationship with Urker.
“I’m very open with Ken about my needs, I’m just able to be comfortable with him.”
While enjoying this new chapter in their lives, Blanchard is also filming a new season of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup.
Furthermore, she is set to release her memoir, My Time to Stand, on December 10.
