What was Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s 33rd birthday like?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard will always remember her first birthday that she celebrated after leaving prison.
On Wednesday, during her appearance on The Viall Files podcast, Gypsy revealed how she felt after celebrating her life for the first time as a free woman. Remember that she was released from prison last year in December after serving eight long years in jail. She was in jail for murdering her mom Claudine Dee Dee Blanchard.
On the show, host Nick Viall asked about her favorite holiday to celebrate since saying bye-bye to prison life. The expectant mother gladly said that it was her 33rd birthday on July 27.
“It’s my birthday, actually,” she replied. ”I know it’s not a holiday, but in the past, birthdays for me have been complicated, and in prison for the last eight and a half years, my birthdays have been nothing more than my roommates making me a paper card,” she emotionally explained.
“So my family, my dad [my stepmom you know, they all had us a little lunch for my birthday, and then Ken had taken me to the Ritz Carlton for a fancy dinner,” continued Blanchard.
What did Blanchard eat on her birthday?
She explained that she only ordered French fries and Caesar salad for dinner but it was her boyfriend that made the day so special. She recalled, “He made me a cake as well. He burned the first one, and so he had to remake it. There was so much love that went into that cake. I thought it was so sweet,”
Gypsy had a sad childhood and was a victim of a victim of Munchausen by proxy (a form of child abuse that involves a guardian exaggerating or inducing illness to gain sympathy). She said in the podcast that it was during her birthdays in the prison that she got to learn her actual age. “Once I was told my real age, I was able to start celebrating and getting older,” she said.

How does Gypsy want to raise her child?
Blanchard’s next birthday is going to be even extra special since she will be celebrating it as a first-time mom. Just six months after being free from prison life, she announced that she and Ken were expecting a baby.
The couple found out in May of this year that they were going to be parents. Blanchard previously married Ryan Scott Anderson. However, she filed for divorce in April 2024.
Now Gypsy and Ken are ready to forget their past and do what is best for their baby girl who is due in January 2025. Just a week after finding out the good news, Urker moved to Louisiana to be close with his girlfriend. Gypsy lives in the city with her dad Rody and stepmom, Kristy.
“I’m not going to say that I think that a baby will help a marriage or a relationship, because there’s the added stress. I know that realistically, there’s going to be arguments too,” Blanchard told PEOPLE in July 2024 after announcing her pregnancy.
She continued, “But [Ken and I] both come from divorced parents and one thing we agreed on from day one, even back when we were dating in 2017, is that when we have a child, we will stick together for the long haul. This is a forever thing because we don’t want our child to grow up in a broken home.”
Gypsy won’t want to repeat her mom’s mistakes
After experiencing such child abuse, Gypsy hopes that she will do things differently than her mom. So also revealed that all the qualities that she wanted in a mother, she will give to her baby.
She said, “My mother told me I was never going to get married, raise a family, have kids or do any of that. So, to be here, standing on my own two feet and expecting my first baby, that’s something I’ve reached as an achievement and a personal goal.”
Blanchard continued “I thank God every day that I am now having this second chance at life with a kid of my own. The way my mother parented me is not the way I’m going to be. We always say for the next generation, we want to be better than we were raised. And so, for me, I think that couldn’t be any more truthful.”
