Why does the couple want their legal separation?
After a couple of years after marriage, Mary Kay Letourneau and Villi Fualaau had started getting complications in their relationship. It has been said that initially there was a smooth relation going on between them but later on they had to suffer many problems.
Being the parents of two children, they had tried their best to save their relationship but they failed and it didn’t work. This led them to take the decision.
As the history records of Mary Kay Letourneau show that she had served seven years in prison for having sex with Fualaau when he was her sixth-grade (12-year-old) student in 1996. She had been charged with child rape and had been inside custody. This is the cause of the couple’s legal separation.
Fualaau says that the main reason for their legal separation is because of Letourneau’s history. He claims that his spouse’s history of past records does matter to him.
It may create many obstacles in his legal formalities and procedures. His spouse’s past records and documents are also checked for Mary and Fualaau both to be licensed.

They had a very strong bond of relationship regarding each other. The couple had their married life very stable and unbreakable. They first met in Shore Wood Elementary school in Burien.
Fualaau was a student in the school and Mary was a teacher who taught him in his class. Simultaneously they became close to each other and started knowing each other very thoroughly. This led them to have feelings for each other which resulted in both of them being physical.
Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau were married in May 2005. They exchanged wedding vows at Columbia Winery in Woodinville, amidst around 200 guests.
Despite having such a strong bond and relationship between the couple, they had now presently taken a huge decision in their life by being separated and asking for their legal separation.
Past Records of Mary Kay Letourneau
It is flashed that according to the words of Vili, it can be known that the legal separation between Mary and Vili is only due to the historical records of Mary.
She had spent her seven years in custody for being charged with child rape. The rare affair between Letourneau and Vili has led to Mary’s imprisonment.
“They’ve been having issues for a while now, they tried to work through them, but it didn’t work. They’re still committed to being good parents to their children.”
Mary’s attorney David Gehrke claimed that Vili had filed for the separation.
“She could try to contest it, but that’s legally tough to do, perhaps if they want to figure out about the children and child support, but their kids are getting pretty old now.”
